League of Legends developer Riot Games has announced that Estral Esports top-laner Park ‘Summit‘ Woo-tae has been provisionally suspended from competing following allegations of cheating.
The allegations against Summit arose during the LTA North Promotion tournament match between Estral Esports and Disguised, a match that was severely delayed and later postponed due to a DDoS attack.
Riot Games shared that the investigation into Summit is currently pending, and will permit Estral Esports to field a substitute player from its existing roster.
The allegations of cheating were made after the series between the two organisations was disrupted by the reported DDoS attack, causing a 5-hour-long delay (starting around the 2-hour and 4-minute mark).
During this time, around the 5-hour and 10-minute mark, Summit is seemingly seen in the background of fellow Estral Esports player Jang ‘Ghost‘ Yong-jun’s POV, watching a VOD of a previous play he had made.
On LTA North’s social media account, Riot Games stated: “After extensive review of the allegations raised during the LTA North Promotion Tournament between Estral Esports and Disguised, match officials have provisionally suspended Summit from competing pending the outcome of a full investigation.”
The League of Legends developer also cited its Esports Global Code of Conduct 2025 Edition (page 12, 4.3), defining cheating as the use of any ‘in- or out-of-game method, technique, or technology’ that gives a team or player ‘an unfair advantage.’
Estral Esports has since published a statement following the suspension of its top-laner, Park ‘Summit‘ Woo-tae, calling the sanction ‘overly severe.’
“We believe the sanction imposed is disproportionate and overly severe,” Estral Esports stated. “The penalty fails to take into account the human factor of having seven people (players and staff) waiting in front of a computer for more than five hours, without movement or solutions.”
Estral Esports further added that it believes there was ‘no bad faith or intent’ from Summit, and that it has filed a formal appeal with the league.
What Will Happen to LTA North Promotion?
Riot Games shared that the remainder of the remote series in the LTA North Promotion tournament bracket will be delayed by one day. However, the LAN finals will still be held on October 12th, 2025, its original date.
Only three games were played between Estral Esports and Disguised before the disruption, with the rest of the series postponed to October 7th at 13:00 PM PT / 16:00 PM ET.
As it currently stands, Disguised are ahead with a score of 2:1 against Estral Esports. Both teams will fight for a place in the Upper Bracket Finals, facing off against Luminosity.
Despite being called LTA North Promotion, the tournament serves as a qualifier to LCS 2026 Split 1, following the return of both LCS and CBLOL as independent leagues.
