A dream come true for many players
After more than two decades of raids, dungeons, and epic battles, World of Warcraft is adding a feature that fans have been asking for for years: housing. On December 2, 2025, even before the official launch of the new “Midnight” expansion, players will be able to purchase their own property for the first time and design it however they want.
But Blizzard is dampening the euphoria a little. Because what starts in December is just a taste of things to come. The full range of possibilities will only be unlocked in 2026 with the release of “Midnight.” However, this does not dampen the anticipation of the community, which is already speculating about what their dream homes in Azeroth might look like.
Neighborhoods, events, and a dig at the competition
The first housing features are impressive: players can purchase a house, decorate it with furniture and decorations, and even establish neighborhoods—either privately within their own guild or open to everyone. Those who upgrade their house will receive more space and a higher budget for additional rooms and outdoor areas.
The monthly neighborhood events, which offer exclusive rewards, are particularly exciting. Blizzard is making it clear that housing is meant to be more than just a visual extra—it’s becoming a real community experience.
Blizzard couldn’t resist a little dig in the announcement. While fans of Final Fantasy XIV still have to fight for limited plots of land, Blizzard promises: “In Azeroth, there are houses for everyone.” This is a clear advantage that should make the feature more accessible from the start.
