Rooster and NRG have become the first teams knocked out of ESL Pro League Season 22.
The Australian and North American esports organisations failed to win a map during the tournament’s first stage.
Rooster and NRG First Out
Despite showing some signs of life, Rooster exits Pro League without recording a map win, losing 2-0 to BLAST Open London champions G2 Esports, 3DMAX, and M80 during Stage 1.
NRG managed to record one map win over Legacy, but lost to the South American side in round two of Stage 1 after being swept aside by GamerLegion in round one. The North Americans failed to stay alive, with a 2-0 loss to Fluxo sending them home.
HOTU And Inner Circle Advance
Stage 1 of ESL Pro League Season 22 has already had its fair share of surprise results.
After battling through the Asian qualifier, HOTU has flown under the radar of many, including teams that are ranked significantly higher. The team kicked off Stage 1 with a surprise victory over FURIA before defeating B8 2-1, needing one more win to advance to the next stage.
HOTU kept the ball rolling with a 2-0 sweep of ENCE to become the first team to qualify for Stage 2.
Joining HOTU in Stage 2 is Inner Circle Esports. The former TNL lineup has played the most rounds in Stage 1 so far, thanks to three 2-1 wins over 3DMAX, GamerLegion, and Gentle Mates.
What Next?
With the first wave of teams qualifying for Stage 2, while others are packing their bags, Stage 1 of ESL Pro League Season 22 continues as six more teams look to book their place in the next phase of the tournament.
Stage 1 of Pro League concludes on October 2nd, where the eight teams will join the Stage 2 invites and compete in another Swiss stage to determine which teams advance to the Playoffs.
