Battlefield 6 is almost here, so EA and Battlefield Studios are ramping up the marketing with a familiar live-action trailer and much more, including news on what the first batch of free post-launch content will be.
After the game’s October 10 launch, Season 1 will kick off on October 28, starting with a new map, a new mode, three new weapons, and more. It’s a promising start, and the powers that be are promising content updates every month. This also means seasons will be split into different phases; similar to the tried-and-tested approach to post-launch content of Call of Duty in recent years. Of course, expect a paid battle pass to unlock extra skins and other cosmetics too. See the full Season 1 preview below:
The key dates are October 28, November 18, and December 9. While we won’t be seeing any Halloween-themed content (we’re not ruling out some special skins maybe), Battlefield 6 will go slightly festive just in time for Christmas with a frozen version of the Empire State map which should remind you of The Division.
You can go through the full list of confirmed content for Season 1 here, but here’s the quick rundown:
Phase 1: Rogue Ops – October 28
- Blackwell Fields large-scale map
- Strikepoint 4v4 mode
- APC Traverser Mark 2 land vehicle
- SOR-300C carbine rifle
- Mini Fix sniper rifle
- GGH-22 sidearm
- Rail Cover and LPVO attachments
Phase 2: California Resistance – November 18
- Eastwood large-scale map
- Sabotage 8v8 mode

- M327 Trait sidearm
- Slim handstop attachment
Phase 3: Winter Offensive – December 9
- Ice Lock Empire State limited-time map update
- Ice Lock limited-time event

On top of everything, EA and Battlefield Studios are also promising new features and custom content possibilities coming to the Portal Builder Tool, so stay tuned for updates on that front too.
Battlefield 6 arrives just as EA has shared the worrying news it “has entered into an agreement to be acquired for $55 billion by an investment consortium comprised of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), Silver Lake, and Affinity Partners,” a move which may lead to further layoffs at the company as it tries to get out of dangerous debt territory. After the huge deal goes through by Q1 2027, Electronic Arts will no longer be a publicly traded company.
