Publisher and developer Crate Entertainment today announced that survival city builder Farthest Frontier is finally leaving early access next month with the launch of its long-awaited 1.0 update.

Described as “massive,” this patch “completely redefines the game’s core progression system” through the introduction of a sprawling a 142-point tech tree that, according to the developer, “creates a meaningful evolution for every facet of your town’s construction, maintenance, and expansion.”

In addition, Farthest Frontier’s 1.0 update also adds dozens of new buildings, alongside bridges, and a policy system. Various animations are also set to receive polish, making cities even more lively than they currently are.

“Farthest Frontier contains a lot of the depth and ideas I’d always wanted to see in the genre, like more robust farming and an intricate, fully-simulated economy where villagers are actually carrying resources and items back and forth,” said CEO & Creative Director Arthur Bruno.

“It’s been a huge challenge, especially since we’ve never had more than 8 people on it at a time but Farthest Frontier turned out bigger and better than I had imagined and I am incredibly proud of the team and what we’ve built.”

When Farthest Frontier leaves early access on October 23, 2025, its price will be bumped up to $34.99 or your regional equivalent.

Currently available for $29.99, the city builder will be discounted during the Steam Autumn Sale, which begins on September 29, giving those still on the fence one last chance to pick it up for a lower price before its 1.0 update launches.

Since entering early access 3 years ago, the title has received 16 major updates and sold more than 1.2 million copies.
