Top Esports has become the latest team to successfully qualify for the League of Legends World Championship 2025.
The esports team earned its qualification after defeating Invictus Gaming in the LPL Regional Finals series.
Top Esports faced off against Invictus Gaming in the Upper Bracket Finals, where it won 3-1 in the BO5 series. Highlight players included Seo ‘Kanavi‘ Jin-hyeok, who achieved MVP twice in the tournament, and Yu ‘JackeyLove‘ Wenbo, who achieved over 16,000 damage in the first game.
As a result of winning the match-up, Top Esports has secured its spot at Worlds 2025; however, one place still remains in the LPL. Invictus Gaming will face off against the winner of JD Gaming or Weibo Gaming for the LPL’s final Worlds place on September 27th.
What to Expect from TOP at Worlds 2025
Top Esports is now scheduled to play in the World Championship, scheduled to take place from October 14th to November 9th, 2025.
It will face off against 17 other teams from across the world, such as The MSI Champions Gen.G Esports, and other top-performing rosters like reigning champions T1. All rosters will compete to reach the Grand Finals in Chengdu, China, where the winner will claim the lion’s share of a $5m prize pool.
Top Esports has seen varying levels of success in 2025 so far. Outside of the LPL Regional Finals, it placed fourth in the 2025 First Stand Tournament after losing to Hanwha Life 0-3, and recently placed second in LPL 2025 Split 3.
Despite its shortcomings, Top Esports is still considered one of the top contenders for the championship title.
