OD’s release date will properly lift the curtains off Kojima Productions’ highly anticipated horror game, which has spent several years following its reveal shrouded in mystery.
Officially unveiled in 2023, then resurfacing in September 2025, its appeal stems not just from having Kojima’s name attached to it, but also the cryptic trailers released and, perhaps, a lingering dash of hope that some of PT’s spirit might make it into the project.
OD Release Date
OD’s release date has yet to be unveiled, which means that we’ll have to be patient for at least several more months. It’s unclear how far in development the title currently is, but its 2025 trailer suggests that things are, indeed, moving along. Hopefully, we won’t have to wait two more years before getting another look.
OD Gameplay
Not much has been revealed so far about OD’s gameplay, so it’s hard to say whether it veers more towards the likes of Resident Evil, giving us proper tools to fend off whatever dangers lurk in the dark, or puts us in a more vulnerable position, having to prioritize stealth and subterfuge to stay alive.
The title will reportedly differ from Kojima’s past output, tapping into large doses of suspense and horror. Its second trailer, which you can watch below, suggests as much.
Impactful despite using very few resources, it mainly features a first-person sequence in which one of the protagonists enters a room, then lights candles sitting on what could be a makeshift altar of sorts.
Things get progressively more unnerving as someone or something knocks on the door. The cry of a baby can then be heard before, finally, an entity enters the room, grabbing the protagonist.
Although this doesn’t give us a sense of how OD will play, it does make a convincing case for the atmosphere it’s trying to build. It’s photorealistic graphics further sweeten the deal.
OD Price and Platforms
There are no confirmed platforms for OD at this point in time, but given how the title is developed in partnership with Xbox Game Studios, it’s probably safe to assume that we’ll see it on Xbox Series X/S (or its successor, depending on when its release date ends up occurring) and, potentially, PC.
PlayStation users may have to wait a bit for this one, although nothing official has been shared on this matter either. Similarly, OD’s price hasn’t been discussed so far.
