The Group Stage of VALORANT Champions 2025 has officially concluded, with VCT Americas teams G2 Esports and MIBR claiming the final two Playoffs slots.
The two squads won crucial decider matches versus T1 and Rex Regum Qeon (RRQ), respectively, eliminating their opponents from the competition in Paris.
G2 Esports Takes Revenge on T1
The first series of the day was a rematch between Masters Bangkok finalists G2 Esports and T1. Whilst T1 claimed victory back in March, VCT Americas Stage 2 champion G2 won today’s Group D decider match to stay alive at VALORANT Champions.
On G2’s map pick, Lotus, T1 suffered from its one-dimensional macro gameplay. When attacking, its double-duelist team composition relies on direct site hits and rarely makes mid-round adaptations to game plans drafted during the pre-barrier phase. Therefore, G2 was never punished for overrotating on the defence. Still, the NA team did lose five rounds in the first half due to hero plays and strong ultimates from T1.
In the second half, G2 continued to demonstrate its thorough awareness of T1’s tendencies. The Korean roster loves to deny a spike plant at all costs by flooding sites and fighting together. This was successful whenever T1 won crucial gun duels or coordinated its fast floods well.
However, G2 exploited T1’s eagerness to isolate players and win 1v1 duels. A pistol round win on defence wasn’t enough to deny G2 from claiming the first map 13-9.
Despite having looked shaky in previous Corrode games, G2 seemed to have finally discovered its comfort team comp for VALORANT’s latest map. Yoru is already known to counter Vyse walls, but G2 also picked Tejo to facilitate mid-fights and gain an additional info-gathering tool.
The team started strong again, with successful slow attack defaults leading to late site hits. Although T1 tried to adjust by taking early B-main control, B players were often caught off guard on this mission. After an 8-4 half, G2 won its second pistol round of the map to reach match point quickly.
T1’s thrifties and solid A hits allowed for a short bounce back; however, G2 went on to secure the map 13-8.
While Alexander ‘jawgemo’ Mor was the highest-fragging member from the G2 roster, in-game leader (IGL) Jacob ‘valyn’ Batio also impressed viewers. In addition to his reliable calling, the Omen specialist scored a kill-death (KDA) ratio of 35/27/18 throughout the series.
MIBR Dominates Rex Regum Qeon

The day continued with one of the most one-sided series at VALORANT Champions 2025 so far. Off the back of four pistol round wins and three bonus conversions, VCT Americas’ fourth seed, MIBR, defeated its Group B rival and VCT Pacific Stage 2 runner-up, Rex Regum Qeon (RRQ), 2-0.
RRQ’s map pick, Corrode, saw great fundamentals and calm mid-rounding from MIBR, whereas its Pacific opponent couldn’t lock down A. MIBR’s Arthur ‘artzin’ Araujo, in particular, had an outstanding performance on KAY/O. On MIBR’s attack, his supportive utility helped Erick ‘aspas’ Santos make confident site entries.
Meanwhile, RRQ’s Waylay player, Maksim ‘Jemkin’ Batorov, was repeatedly forced to save his Operator. In the final round of attack, Artzin also aced to secure a 9-3 half for his team. On defence, the player contributed to a clean 13-5 win on Corrode with impactful frags and a 1v1 clutch.
This momentum carried over onto Abyss. Thanks to another bonus round conversion, aspas could afford an early defensive Operator to take control of the B-site and middle. The duelist legend scored 17 kills on Abyss and concluded the series with a kill-death ratio (KDA) of 36/14/4.
Whenever rounds got close, the rest of MIBR was ready to frag out. RRQ, on the other hand, looked disjointed both on its site takes and during post-plant situations. It took eleven kills from Jemkin to win the final three rounds of the half (4-8). However, with another pistol round lost, it was only a matter of time until MIBR came out on top 13-5.
