G.E.M. to perform LoL Worlds 2025 anthem, Summoner’s Cup undergoes classic rebranding

The 2025 League of Legends World Championship celebrates 15 years of LoL Esports by bringing back a more modern Summoners Cup, four artists for the Finals Opening Ceremony, and new Worlds skins chromas.

This year’s Worlds anthem will also be performed by G.E.M., a renowned singer in Asia. Details surrounding the song have not been revealed; however, Riot Games noted that the song will be released in October.

The League of Legends World Championship kicks off October 14th in China, culminating with the Finals in Chengdu. While the full lineup is not yet locked, many regional representatives have already secured a spot — including reigning champion T1.

2025 Worlds in China promises to be a landmark event, celebrating the evolution of League of Legends’ esports from its first global stage in 2011. From the trophy players will lift, to the music accompanying the Finals, it seems Riot Games wants to celebrate in style both on and off the Rift.

The Summoner’s Cup has a new look, one that veteran fans of LoL Esports will immediately recognise. After three years, Riot Games has reintroduced the trophy’s classic silhouette, but with a modern update.

Notably, this trophy weighs nearly half as much as the previous Tiffany & Co edition, making it far easier and safer to lift on stage — nobody wants another World Champion hitting their head with the trophy.

Following the tradition instilled by the previous edition, the Summoner’s Cup base is engraved with the names of all 14 past champions, truly highlighting the game’s notable history.

G.E.M. is a Hong Kong singer-songwriter known for her pop, R&B, and rock-influenced music. Gaining international attention with songs like ‘Light Years Away’, G.E.M. mostly sings in Mandarin and Cantonese but has also released a few songs in English, thus leaving League fans questioning in which language the anthem will be in.

“Having followed LoL Esports for some time, I’ve been deeply moved by the fighting spirit on stage, commented G.E.M.

“The courage to sacrifice for the team and the strength to hold on to one’s beliefs resonate with me not only as an artist, but also as someone who has risen against the odds and poured everything into pursuing a dream.”

Alongside G.E.M., electronic artist Anyma will also take the stage during the Opening Ceremony. In 2025, the Italian-American artist secured a US Billboard Dance/Mix Show Airplay number one with Hypnotized alongside Ellie Goulding. Currently, the dance track has recorded over 41m streams on Spotify.

The ceremony will also feature the return of Against The Current’s Chrissy Costanza, who sang Legends Never Die in 2017, one of Worlds’ most iconic anthems.

Costanza was notably absent from the 2023 opening ceremony — despite her song being featured — so her comeback could hint at a live performance of Legends Never Die. 

Austria Singer TEYA will round out the lineup. The 25-year-old will be perhaps most known for her appearance in 2023’s Eurovision. Alongside Salena, TEYA was Austra’s representative and performed the song ‘Who the Hell Is Edgar?‘.

Beyond the stage and spotlight, Riot Games is also celebrating 15 years of the competition in the game itself.

League of Legends World Championship chroma skins were first introduced in 2019. As a result, past World champions are without the additional in-game content — until now. For Worlds 2025, Riot Games is extending this tradition backwards to honour past Championship winners, beginning with 2018 Invictus Gaming and 2017 Samsung Galaxy.

IG’s historic run as the first LPL team to claim the title and SSG’s unforgettable 2017 triumph in Beijing are the perfect starting point for this anniversary rollout.

Riot has confirmed that more past champions will receive similar treatments in the coming years, slowly filling out the chroma legacy for Worlds winners dating back to the beginning.
