“Definitely a win” – Battlefield 6 fulfills a big fan request with a small feature

In Battlefield 6, fan feedback was clearly taken to heart after the beta: enemy markers now work a little differently.

It’s a topic that is hotly debated in just about every shooter: how visible should enemies be? Too little visibility makes the game frustrating because you’re wandering around half-blind or accidentally shooting your teammates all the time. Too many visual aids, on the other hand, seem out of place and can disrupt the atmosphere.

In the Battlefield 6 beta, a red square appeared above the enemy’s head as soon as you aimed at them. For Reddit user assuageer, however, this was insufficient. It was impossible to distinguish between marked enemies and all other opponents!

Note: When an opponent is marked manually, they also appear on the mini-map of their teammates. This makes a huge tactical difference. In the heat of battle, it would therefore make sense to be able to see at a glance whether a player is already marked or not.

A month ago, he posted a suggestion on posted a suggestion in which marked opponents have the familiar red square, while all others have an unfilled square floating above their heads. As it turns out, the suggestion was adopted exactly as it was!

In another Reddit post, he expresses his delight: I love this change!

OMG they did it I love you DICE

Much approval, but not everyone is happy

Over 6,000 upvotes already give a good idea of how the change is being received by the community. For Ruger15 but that wasn’t the only criticism of the beta version:

That’s great, but I want to know how the markers work when aiming. In the open beta, they were way too sensitive.

Even though most people see an improvement, many users would prefer no visual assistance at all with unmarked opponents. As MysticMarauder69:

Why is this important? There is still a huge box above their heads. How about not using a box at all for enemies that have not yet been marked…

DhruvM on the other hand, wants the system from Battlefield 5 back:

Remove the diamonds completely. It’s not difficult, Dice, you already managed it in BFV with the complete removal of 3D spotting. […] Enough with the hand-holding, this game already has enough of that.

When it comes to visibility, the skin debate must also be addressed. Battlefield 6 wants to do away with colorful, unrealistic designs, but camouflage uniforms make enemies even harder to see. The leaked skins for Season 1 are still quite down-to-earth, but some fans fear that this is only the beginning.
