G2 Esports will face The MongolZ in a blockbuster matchup in the FISSURE Playground 2 Quarterfinals.
The opening stages started with a bang, with the Swiss stage commencing with the FURIA vs. Team Liquid clash. Now, eight teams remain, ready to fight in the playoffs for the lion’s share of a $1,250,000 prize pool.

Let’s take a look at the matches that will surely entertain fans over the weekend of Sept. 19 to 21.
FISSURE Playground 2 Playoffs Matches Set
All four quarterfinal matches at the FISSURE Playground 2 promise to be epic, with VRS implications ahead of the October 6 invites for StarLadder Budapest Major.
For example, if Team Liquid can win one more match, a Stage 2 invite is on the cards for the upcoming Major Championship, instead of a Stage 1 invite.
G2 Esports vs. The MongolZ, however, is our pick as the top match to watch. G2 Esports is currently #5 in the world, while The MongolZ is #2. Nemanja “huNter-” Kovač is looking to lead G2 Esports to win two events in a row, after claiming the recent BLAST Open London trophy.
However, as the Esports World Cup 2025 winners, The MongolZ are still slight favorites on paper heading into the match.
The last time the teams met was in Stage 3 of the BLAST.tv Austin Major in the 2-2 pool, where The MongolZ won 2-0 after an incredible quadruple overtime on Dust2.

We won’t see defending champions TYLOO in the playoffs, as Team Liquid eliminated the Chinese squad in the final match of the Swiss stage. The tournament marks the last dance for Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken before he heads to FaZe Clan.
FISSURE Playground 2 continues with the playoffs stage from Sept. 19 to 21, live on LAN at the Belgrade Arena in Serbia. It’s a single-elimination bracket, so one mistake can spell the end of the tournament.
