A new leak shows the return of classic military rank insignia—but the level cap has fans worried.
Battlefield 2042 does away with the classic display of rank insignia to indicate a player’s level. This feature was sorely missed by many fans, which is why a leak about Battlefield 6 is causing excitement for now. The rank insignia found on soldiers’ uniforms in real life are making a comeback. However, there is one detail that some players are not so happy about.

The assets of the rank insignia can be seen as they will appear later in the game, if the leak is correct. Most of the insignia can be seen in the Reddit post.
BF6 asset leak… does this mean what I think it means?

Battlefield
The designs correspond to modern military insignia, but have not been directly adopted from any nation. Many players already like the look.
Kyvix2020 writes: ”Finally, military-style ranks again. Now they just need to be displayed on the scoreboard.“ And also ugh.everything likes that they look so ”realistic and gloomy.”
Up to Level 5000
What worries some fans, however, is a final badge that apparently represents level 5000. This appears, for example, TheNameIsFrags far too high:
This may be unpopular, but I hate ridiculously high levels. Level 500 in BFV was already excessive, S1000 in 2042 was ridiculous, and if level 5000 is really true, it just sounds absurd.
Double-Scratch5858 agrees and explains: ” I completely agree with you, dear 100 or even 50. The main thing is that it feels meaningful.“ Also FoxDaim believes that excessively high levels can diminish the feeling of achievement:
It was a great feeling to finally reach the highest rank in BF3, 4, and 1. A maximum rank of 500, 1000, or 5000 is completely absurd, especially when you need between 200,000 and 500,000 XP per level for ranks above 100.
I reached the maximum rank in BF3, 4, and 1, but I’m not even close to the maximum rank in BF5 and 2042.
Some others even cite Battlefield 2 as a positive example. There were only 21 ranks, which were very hard to achieve. For some, certain badges were even required; simply collecting experience points was not enough. However, this is still just a leak, and it remains to be seen what the ranking system and its presentation in Battlefield 6 will ultimately look like. We’ll know for sure by the release date on October 10, 2025, at the latest.
