After almost a year of beta testing, developer NetEase Games released Destiny: Rising on August 28 for iPhone and Android devices. The free-to-play mobile game is already making a positive impression on players, thanks to its fun missions, interesting characters, great graphics, and more. A spinoff of the mainline series, Destiny: Rising lets players traverse across The City, taking on missions and defeating enemies.
However, many have begun to wonder about how each of the 10 Lightbearers fares in campaign mode. Players can buy these through microtransactions, helping them in various battles in the game. With 10 characters to choose from, we’re ranking each of them as a Destiny: Rising hero tier list, in order to help you decide which one can help you in various missions across the game.
Destiny: Rising tier list explained
At the time of writing, there are 10 characters for players to choose from in Destiny: Rising, with two more coming in the near future. Called Lightbearers, each of them has their own abilities and playstyles, from mid-range combat to defence. Our Destiny: Rising tier list ranges from an S-Tier to a C-Tier, dependent on how each character currently performs.
Destiny: Rising tier list in brief
Despite the title launching just over a week ago, players are already discovering how each Lightbearer performs in the game. To help, below is our Destiny: Rising character tier list in brief for easy reading:
Tier | Lightbearer |
---|---|
S | Gwynn |
S | Tan-2 |
A | Maru |
A | Ning Fei |
A | Wolf |
B | Jolder |
B | Finnala |
B | Ikora |
C | Kabr |
C | Attal |
Despite being able to get Kabr and Ikora for free, you have to pull from one of the Gacha banners in order to have more characters. Doing this will gift you one of them at random. You can pay to reroll if you wish, but we recommend doing this responsibly, as the game will charge you.
These characters have been ranked based on our own experiences in playing Destiny: Rising since its launch. However, as patches are brought out for the game, the ranking may change for some Lightbarers, so do check this page in the future if this happens and we decide to update it.
S-Tier

Gwynn and Tan-2 are the best Lightbearers you can have in your team, thanks to their powerful attacks and abilities that eclipse the other eight. For instance, Gwynn’s electric burst attack can be perfect for mid-range battles, meaning she can adapt to many missions you take on throughout the game. For Tan-2, the character can come to your aid at crucial moments, thanks to its Blessing of Dusk attack, maximising team damage when it counts. Both of these Lightbearers can be indispensable when it matters, which is why they’re S-Tier.
A-Tier

Maru, Ning-Fei, and Wolf all earn a place on the A-Tier due to their powerful but balanced offensive attacks. Maru is a solid choice for endgame DPS and attacks, becoming a benefit during missions when defeating waves of enemies. Ning-Fei can target multiple enemies at once with clone summons, making her a great choice for players who want to plan their approach to certain missions. Finally, Wolf is a close-ranged fire-based attacker, thanks to the wielding of his sword, dealing plenty of damage. Despite these Lightbearers not matching up to the S-Tier, their abilities can be a crucial factor in completing mission objectives when it matters.
B-Tier

Three characters feature in our B-Tier, and for good reason. Ikora can cast area spells and team buffs, becoming great support during missions, but lacks those powerful offensive attacks compared to others in higher tiers. Jolder can perform aggressive melee attacks against a bunch of enemies, but can be unreliable in encounters with larger enemies. Finnala is a great defensive Lightbearer, a solar-type with a great spinning attack that can deal a lot of damage at those crucial moments. Ultimately, if you unlock one of these Lightbearers, they’ll still be adept at helping you through some difficult missions, but make sure your own character is levelled up considerably.
C-Tier

Kabr and Attal do fall short of other Lightbearers on this list. Kabr uses a Thunder Shield to fire a powerful light beam, but doesn’t deal as much stun damage as hoped during missions, meaning he may be a frustrating character to have for those crucial moments. For Attal, she can fire bird-shaped projectiles at enemies, dealing a lot of damage, but can also heal team members, becoming a Lightbearer that could be crucial in those tense moments. However, both Lightbearers could be a hindrance in later missions, keeping them, for now, in the C-Tier.
