English EA FC pro Donovan ‘Tekkz’ Hunt has signed with RBZL Gaming for the EA FC 26 esports season.
The 24-year-old is one of the most popular players in the scene, with his YouTube channel close to 1 million subscribers.
It’s no surpirse that a new team picked him so soon after Tekkz left Manchester City Esports.
Meanwhile, RBZL are the gaming division of German Bundesliga football club Red Bull Leipzig.
RBZL have an impressive history in EA FC, mostly thanks to the duo of Anders ‘Vejrgang’ Vejrgang and Umut ‘Umut’ Gültekin.
Umut has collected various accolades, including winning the FIFA eWorld Cup in 2022 and the FIFAe Club World Cup in 2023.
Vejrgang is considered one of the best EA FC pros in the world, and he proved it in 2024 by becoming World Champion.
However, Vejrgang is no longer with RBZL after joining Team Falcons for FC 26.
RBZL couldn’t have found a much better replacement in Tekkz.
He won his first-ever tournament, the FUT Champions Cup in Barcelona, at just 16 years of age.
Following that, during his stint with Fnatic, Tekkz won the eChampions League invitational in 2020.
No player has won more ePremier League titles either.
Tekkz became the first player to win two ePremier League titles while at Man City and has won the tournament a record three times in total.
Perhaps, Liverpool fan Tekkz will represent Leeds at the next ePremier League tournament considering the team’s Red Bull sponsorship.
If he does, he’d have to be one of the favourites on esports betting sites.
Tekkz explains why he left Manchester City for RBZL
Tekkz has revealed why he decided to leave Manchester City:
“I felt I needed a change. Leipzig clearly showed me their plan, and that was exciting. At this point in my career, it was the best step forward for me.”
While Tekkz has had an impressive career, the biggest title in FC Pro still evades him.
At this year’s Esports World Cup, Tekkz was eliminated from the World Championships quarter-finals by his new RBZL teammate, Guilherme ‘GuiBarros’ Barros.
Becoming a World Champion is what Tekkz says is still motivating him:
“My main goal is still to win the FC Pro World Championship.
“It’s been a good step forward recently, and I’m happy with my performance—but I know I can play much better.
“I need to close games more consistently when I’m leading. That will make the difference between the top 8 and winning the tournament.”
However, Tekkz plans to continue creating content as well:
“I also want to become more of a personality in this scene and not just be an FC pro.
“My fans can expect me to stream again, post three to four videos a week, and simply be more present everywhere.”
