Akali is an assassin and ninja champion from League of Legends, who is relatively popular. She has a decent, 6.72% pick rate when it comes to mid lane champions and a 50.22% win rate. She also has a high ban rate, suggesting that skilled Akali players can become a big problem. But where do you start with cosmetics? That’s where the top Akali skins in LoL come in. 

Akali’s role as a rogue ninja assassin who wields traditional Japanese weapons, such as kunai and a kama, allows her to fit into a range of designs when it comes to skins. As with most of the LoL champions, all Akali skins have their positives, but some skins are better than others. 

With this in mind, we’re going to be looking at 10 of the best Akali skins in League of Legends. 

When it comes to judging what goes where in our Akali skin tier list, we’re going to consider the animations, sound effects, general design, and how well the skin suits Akali’s character. 

Despite being one of the new Akali skins at the time of writing (August 2025), Spirit Blossom is a little disappointing. The general design isn’t as well-suited to Akali’s design as some of her other skins, and there aren’t as many animations or effects as was expected. However, Spirit Blossom is still a very pretty look for Akali, and the recall animation is excellent. Though not without its flaws, this is still a great skin. 

Infernal is an Akali skin with a somewhat different history, as it was a replacement for a skin that is now defunct. Infernal was released to replace the Crimson Akali skin in an attempt to improve the skin’s quality (Crimson was pretty much just a Chroma for her default skin). Infernal transforms Crimson Akali into a flame assassin, fitting in with the other skins in the Infernal collection. 

While some fans miss the original Crimson Akali, there is no doubt that Infernal is higher quality and has a very cool volcanic aesthetic, along with a unique recall animation. Infernal is also pretty cheap. At 520 RP, it’s well worth the money, though it isn’t as easily accessible as some of the other skins, as it is locked in the Legacy Vault. 

Blood Moon reimagines Akali as a kunoichi, a female ninja in Japanese culture. This is obviously a great fit for Akali, but the other elements of the design, such as the porcelain mask and the deep red kimono, also suit her perfectly. 

Blood Moon has some great effects that tie in with the themes of Japanese ninja as well as Japanese Noh theatre and blood rituals, such as red color splashes with her animations and red petals that fall during her recall animation. 

The True Damage LoL skins reimagine certain heroes as part of a futuristic hip hop band called True Damage, and Akali slots into this theme excellently. Akali dons an urban streetwear outfit with this skin, and the effects of her attacks get a unique, graffiti style. 

One of the coolest things about True Damage is Akali’s invisible form when she uses her Twilight Shroud ability. When doing so, Akali’s colors are inverted, giving her a look that resembles the “negative effect” that is common in photography. 

There are also some cool sound effects when she uses her abilities and a fun hip hop beat for her recall animation (as well as some street dance animations). 

The Coven Akali skin is a popular choice for the champion on its own, but the Prestige Coven skin upgrades it significantly, offering players a more high-end take on the original Coven look for Akali. 

Prestige Coven Akali gets a new red, white, and black color palette along with updated visuals and effects. This gives the skin a look that stands out more in comparison to the original purple and black colors. Akali’s transformation into a shadow assassin stays the same, but everything feels a bit more polished, making it one of Akali’s best looks. 

Part of the second line of K/DA skins, K/DA ALL OUT Akali showcases a more recent look that coincided with the ALL OUT EP release. The designs are a little sleeker, and the skins reflect this well. 

The effects for Akali’s abilities are more prominent with the ALL OUT skin, offering dynamic, shiny alternatives that reflect the K-pop nature of the K/DA skins. She also gets a prismatic style color change when cloaked in her Twilight Shroud, which is a nice touch. 

The recall animation features a dance and a stage-like podium, emphasising that pop star feel. K/DA ALL OUT Akali is not only a great skin in its own right, but it’s also a must for Akali players who are fans of K/DA as a band. 

Empyrean Akali is a skin that is bursting with life and personality thanks to its amazing cosmic colors and cool sci-fi effects. 

The Empyrean LoL skins are themed around a cosmic force called “Foreglow”, which is where the glowing colors come from with this Akali skin. All of Akali’s abilities receive colorful trails and flourishes with this skin, but it doesn’t become too much, thanks to how well the color elements are implemented. Unique sound effects add to the sci-fi nature of the skin, too, such as the robotic effect over Akali’s regular voice. 

The animations here are also highly impressive, particularly her recall animation, which shows Akali making her way through an obstacle course made up of cosmic rock platforms. The celestial themes of the skin, combined with the great use of color, make this a highly noteworthy Akali skin. 

We’re putting both the regular K/DA and the Prestige K/DA skins in the same entry here, as they are pretty much the same, save for some color and costume changes and animation tweaks here and there. The changes aren’t hugely noticeable, though Prestige K/DA Akali has some extra bells and whistles. 

The design of the original K/DA skins have become iconic, as they reflect the look of each K/DA member from the highly popular POP/STARS animated music video. Akali’s look from the video is particularly well implemented thanks to the unique changes she gets with her Twilight Shroud ability. 

When Akali becomes invisible, she drops a spray paint can and dons her neon look from the music video, complete with her talking mask, purple skin, and bright pink hair. It’s a particularly iconic look, and it’s cleverly woven into the animations and design of the skin. 

The Star Guardian LoL skins are some of the most popular in the game, and it’s easy to see why. The magical girl themes work well with a great number of champions, and the effects and animations that come with the skins are highly impressive. Akali’s Star Guardian skin is no exception, and it is undoubtedly one of her best. 

Star Guardian is the only Akali Legendary skin at the time of writing, but it certainly stands out for its impressive features. Not only does Akali suit the magical girl design more than would be expected, but she also has a range of new features with this skin. 

From appearances of her unique pet to the wings she dons with her recall animation and all the sound effects, animations, and design choices in between, everything about this skin is pretty perfect. 

Narrowly taking the top spot from Star Guardian Akali is DRX Akali. DRX is our number one choice thanks to its implementation of great effects and animations, but also because of how it excellently represents the top League of Legends esports players. 

The DRX skins are named and designed after the well-known Korean professional League of Legends esports team of the same name. The blue and white team colors are prominent in all of the DRX skins, as are the motifs themed around dragons (the team used to be called DragonX). 

The DRX skins are a nod to the team’s win at the 2022 League of Legends World Championships. Akali’s skin was chosen by team member Zeka, who is known for using Akali frequently as a mid laner. 

DRX Akali is particularly smooth in terms of its effects and animations, working well with Akali’s base design. The effects continue to pay tribute to DRX and Zeka, such as Alkali’s recall animation, which shows her wielding the World Cup and includes Zeka’s signature.

DRX Akali is a responsive, well-made skin that suits her excellently and includes some great animations and effects, but it is also a testament to the talented players who have made League of Legends what it is today, making it the best Akali skin in the game.
