After launch in China: Well-known manufacturer of Radeon GPUs returns to motherboards in Germany

It has been several years since Sapphire released its last AMD motherboard – now the company is venturing a global comeback after unveiling its first models in China.

When you come across the Sapphire hardware brand while building a PC, you probably think mainly of Radeon graphics cards. After all, the Hong Kong-based company has been an exclusive AMD partner for years.

But did you also know that Sapphire once manufactured motherboards for AMD processors? No? Then you’ll probably get to know them soon: After a first appearance at Computex 2025, Sapphire is announcing “something exciting,” which is presumably the global launch of new motherboards.

“Sapphire Nitro+” – soon to be a motherboard brand

The announcement was made via the manufacturer’s official X account, which also published a small teaser image alongside the excitement.

In addition to the brand name “Nitro+,” which has been used for custom GPUs in recent years, a small glimpse of the product can also be seen. In addition to the usual motherboard shape, including a section of an I/O panel, a CPU socket can also be seen.

As mentioned at the beginning, Sapphire had already announced these motherboards at Computex 2025. The boards covered all current AM4 and AM5 chipsets – from A520 to X870E, everything was on board. However, at that time, there was only talk of a launch in China, with global availability left open until the very end.

And indeed, a German retailer (via Geizhals): The release of the Sapphire Nitro+ B850M WiFi is likely imminent.

  • This is an entry-level motherboard based on the AM5 socket, so you can put any Ryzen 7000/9000 series CPU on it.
  • If the rest of the data sheet listed by the retailer is also correct, there are four slots for DDR5 RAM with a maximum speed of 8,000 MT/s.
  • There are also a total of seven USB-A ports and one USB-C port on the back. In terms of storage, there are a total of two M.2 slots and four SATA ports.

Other features include WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3; PCI Express 5.0 x16 is supported for the graphics card. However, the listings so far do not reveal exactly when the release can be expected – but we can guess the approximate RRP from the offer, which is likely to be around €156.
