Total War: Warhammer 3’s patch 6.3 release date promises a series of long overdue changes to the Tomb Kings and Lizardmen factions, aiming to make the wait for the now-delayed Tides of Torment DLC a bit easier to deal with.
One of Warhammer 3’s smaller updates, patch 6.3 also adds a slate of new Blessed Units while rebalancing a number of traits, tweaking multiple technology tree elements, and bringing Total War: Pharaoh’s camera blood splatter as an option that we can toggle on and off at our leisure.

Total War: Warhammer III’s patch 6.3 release date is currently locked in to the week of August 25, developer Creative Assembly confirmed in a blog post.

The Tomb Kings were one of Warhammer II’s most fun factions but time, multiple updates, and a set of deadly new additions to the faction rosters made them feel like they’re falling behind.
Total War: Warhammer III’s patch 6.3 brings several changes to the race’s mechanics, starting with their unique collectible resource, the Canopic Jars.
Now gained from post-battle kills akin to meat if you’re playing Ogre Kingdoms or slaves if you fancy the Dark Elves, Canopic Jars can be spent on Nehekharan Decrees, to quickly secure a bit of extra cash, a buff to research rate, or Garrison Sally. The Mortuary cult has also received new banners.
All Tomb Kings characters have a least one skill as of Warhammer III’s patch 6.3, while the technology tree sees multiple tweaks, “ranging from a decrease to the research penalty Dynasty technologies incur as well as adding some unique effects alongside additional technologies that increase unit capacities.”
As far as the Books of Nagash go, we’ll find some in the desert while playing certain factions, while Khalida can pursue one in a new location.
Each book also provides buffs to Dune Restoration, making it more likely that constructs return to life after a battle ends.
Furthermore, the Tomb Kings have the following confederation options:

Over on the Lizardmen side, Warhammer III’s patch 6.3 brings significant improvements to the technology tree, which include “adding new effects, removing most building requirements & improving consistency with what units gain effects from certain areas as well as some bits of spice dotted around.”
Building construction costs/times and output have also been tweaked to bring them in line with the other factions, while resource buildings also provide a low amount of treasury.
All beasts in the roster gain the Wallbreaker trait, while the unique skill lines have been rebalanced. Furthermore, the non-feral dinosaur units should have a more visible color tint that makes identifying their faction easier.
Total War: Warhammer III’s patch 6.3 also brings with it the following free units:

- Blessed Skink Cohort (Javelins)
- Blessed Ripperdactyl Riders
- Blessed Sacred Kroxigor
- Blessed Terradon Riders
- Blessed Razordon Hunting Pack
- Blessed Salamander Hunting Pack
- Blessed Ancient Salamander
- Blessed Ancient Stegadon
The button that allows spawning blessed units is now always available, but recruiting them requires using Spawning Sequences earned via missions, commandments and performing rites.
As the developer explains, “Rituals like Sacrifices to Sotek & Nakai’s temple rituals add one to your pool in addition to giving resource, so you don’t necessarily need to recruit the unit that you have added to your pool.”
More changes, including a trait rebalance and the addition of Total War: Pharaoh’s camera blood splatter effect as a toggleable option, are coming when Total War: Warhammer III patch 6.3’s release date occurs, and you can read about them in the blog post linked above.
