Sci-fi 4x grand strategy game Stellaris continues to grow and, as new content fleshes out the variety of experiences available to us out there among the stars, the 4.1 update release date is on the radars of many players curious to see how the base game will change next
Titled Lyra, Stellaris’ patch 4.1 is developed by the title’s Custodian team, with help from their partners at Abrakam, aiming to improve the planet view UI, introduce the Organic trait, and more.

Stellaris’ update 4.1 doesn’t currently have a fixed release date but will be paired with the Shadows of the Shroud expansion, which is expected to become available at some point in Q3 2025.

The first details regarding the content coming in Stellaris’ 4.1 lyra update, reveal a series of changes targeting the planet view UI, which becomes wider, aiming to improve the general flow when interacting with it.
“On the Surface tab this extra space is filled with the Planet Summary that was previously on the Management tab, and the Build Queue is once again permanently visible,” the developer explains. “Constructing a building will advance to the next open building slot and will no longer close the building list. Decisions and Terraforming have also moved over to this tab.”
The Management tab breaks down pop groups in a collapsible list first grouped by species, stratum, and individual pop groups, in this order.
In addition, we’ll also find a monthly pop summary that tracks our people’s growth, migration, and assembly for the previous month. Pie charts also return, providing a visual aid when hovering over different parts of planet view UI.
“The biggest changes on the Economy tab are better use of space, the addition of the summary in the top right, and vastly improved tooltips,” the developer continues.
Job tooltips in Stellaris Lyra update 4.1 will show “complete production and upkeep information for both the job and the pops involved,” which will hopefully translate to improved clarity and better decisions while managing our empires.
Although the armies and holding tabs won’t see significant changes, the extra space means that recruitment will no longer require a pop-out tab to list the available armies.
Aside from the planet UI changes, Stellaris 4.1 patch also adds an Organic trait to “make food consuming pops more explicit and allow us to simplify a ridiculous number of triggered upkeep checks.”
