Berlin International Gaming (BIG) has promoted David ‘Prosus‘ Hesse to its main Counter-Strike 2 roster after a month representing its academy roster.
As a result of Prosus’s promotion, the German esports organisation has moved Can ‘kyuubii‘ Ali to the academy.
Alongside making a change to its main roster, BIG has revealed that it has parted ways with Robin ‘ScrunK’ Röpke after joining as the main team’s coach in July. With ScrunK’s departure, Sebastian ‘xenn‘ Hoch has been reinstated as head coach.
BIG says ScrunK leaving his role as coach was “mutually agreed” after both parties agreed “that it wasn’t a good fit for both sides,” as the team looks to secure a place among the top 32 in the Valve Regional Standings (VRS).
Following BIG’s latest roster swap, the organisation took to social media to share insight on how its academy team integrates into its Counter-Strike operations.
“With our academy team, we follow a clear path. It’s not a separate squad detached from the main team, but directly connected to it,” said Roman Reinhardt, Chief Gaming Officer of BIG.
“Those who show strong results, act professionally, and prove themselves in practice can earn their spot in the lineup. To make this approach successful, we also need a high level of quality within the academy team.”
BIG In 2025
After scoring a second-place finish at MESA Nomadic Spring Masters 2025 in May, BIG has struggled to build on a solid performance during the second half of the year.
A top-24 finish at IEM Cologne was quickly followed by elimination during the online phase of BLAST Bounty Season 2, resulting in the team dropping down the VRS.
Currently ranked 34th, BIG sits just outside the top 32, putting it on the verge of securing a place at the StarLadder Budapest Major taking place in November.
The new-look BIG will be in action on August 28th as it competes in the open qualifier for Betclic Clash Summer. The top eight teams will secure a place in the playoffs, with the top four playoff sides earning a place at the LAN finals taking place in September.
