Every new Mega evolution confirmed for Pokémon TCG Pocket

Pokémon TCG Pocket has announced a huge update that will see an all-new type of card introduced to the game.

Mega Evolutions are coming to Pokémon Pocket sometime in Fall, in what could be the game’s biggest update yet.

This is likely in celebration of the release of Pokémon Legends Z-A, which is bringing back the popular battle gimmick.

These powerful new cards will almost certainly shake up the meta with huge stats and crazy abilities.

However, there is a massive payoff in that if a Mega is killed, its opponent is awarded three points and automatically wins.

This is like one step up from EX cards, with the main visual difference being the Mega logo golden names at the top of the card.

The new trailer revealed three new Megas coming to the game, with each featuring stunning art.

The artists will have done their due diligence after Pokémon Pocket had to remove stolen art from Ho-oh and Lugia EX.

Revealing three cards could imply that this update will be the game’s first-ever three-pack expansion.

A set hasn’t featured three separate packs since the Genetic Apex packs from the Pokémon Pocket’s launch.

The newly revealed Mega EX cards all look very strong. Here is an in-depth look at each one.

Mega Altaria EX could make psychic decks even stronger

Swablu and Altaria are new additions coming to the game, though for now only the Mega version of Altaria is confirmed.

Interestingly, this card confirms that Megas in Pokémon Pocket will use the newer physical TCG rules.

Previously, Megas would have to evolve from the regular version of that card, i.e. Altaria would have to evolve to Mega Altaria.

But the trailer has shown that Mega Altaria EX will evolve directly from Swablu.

The upcoming card will have a substantial 190 HP and an attack that can deal up to 120 damage for just two energy.

This could be a major momentum swing early, but it requires a full bench and risks the three points for eliminating a Mega.

Mega Gyarados in Pokémon Pocket is better than you think

210 HP is CRAZY, but I’m a little worried about Gyarados because Megas give up 3 prize points. ➡️ 4 energy for 140 damage seems weak. Not enough to sweep. pic.twitter.com/txXkO9iYaD

There has been a mixed response from the community over the strength of Mega Gyarados EX in Pokémon Pocket.

Requiring four energy for a 140 attack, which doesn’t finish a lot of powerful cards, does seem underwhelming.

However, discarding three cards from the opponent’s deck is a devastating effect in a game which uses 20-card decks.

Getting off multiple attacks, made likely by the card’s all-time high 210 HP, could ruin a lot of decks’ combos.

Plus, water has plenty of ways to ramp energy, including Manaphy and the polarising Misty.

This card is being severely underrated by many.

Mega Blaziken could be Pokémon Pocket‘s craziest aggo card yet

The final card in the reveal is another new Pokémon being added to the game. Of the three revealed, Mega Blaziken EX looks the scariest.

Many have already figured out a combo that, while tricky to pull off, could be near impossible to stop.

By starting with Magby and getting fire energy onto Torchic with no cost, Rare Candy could summon Blaziken on your second turn.

This would then lead to an attack that does 140-160 damage every turn on a 210 HP unit that can be healed by Lillie.

Of course, this is a Stage 3 Pokémon, so managing to draw all of these cards would require a lot of luck.

But still, this card could be very difficult to deal with once it’s online.
