TL;DR

  • Season 3 of Year 10 is about to release in September, so we sat down for a hands-on preview of the next chapter in Siege X.
  • Three extra modernised maps are coming in Season 3, alongside the brand-new defender: Denari.
  • Denari is equipped with the Trip Connector ability, which allows the player to set up laser trip wires to deter opponents from entering a room.
  • We found the Trip Connector ability to be incredibly creative, letting each player build the battlefield to their own vision.
  • Season 3 will likely have major ripples in the esports community, as ranked players will now have to navigate Denari and his counters.

Siege X is still going strong this August with dozens of operators to play. Yet another defender is entering the mix, and Denari is sure to provide a fresh spin on the Rainbow Six formula. More modernised maps will also be available in Operation High Stakes, so there are endless ways that Season 3 will alter the meta.

More info will also be displayed on the esports tab in Season 3, so it’s a good time to be a fan of competitive Siege. Ubisoft gave us a hands-on preview of the next season, allowing us to bring you our first impressions of Year 10: Season 3 in Siege X.

Who is Denari?

Denari is Siege’s latest defender, and he’s set to be released alongside Operation High Stakes on September 2, 2025. Having previously served in the Swiss Military, Denari is a skilled combatant and has access to the T.R.I.P. Connector ability, or Trip Connector for short. This gadget lets Denari set up connectors to host a laser network that slows and damages opponents upon being triggered.

Alongside the Trip Connector, Denari also has access to the FMG-9 SMG and the Scorpion Evo 3 A1. With three speed but only one health, Denari isn’t the best at taking hits, but he can swiftly escape deadly situations. Denari is labelled as a three in difficulty, so he’s one of the hardest defenders to play effectively in Siege X.

Y10S3 first impressions: We loved Denari’s Trip Connector

During our play test, we had the opportunity to try out Denari. Our initial opinion? Pure brilliance.

While all operators bring something unique to the table, few bring as much as Denari. The Trip Connector ability lets players throw about seven connectors anywhere on the map. Every connector can link to each other with lasers, creating a trip wire room that’s straight out of a spy movie. Hallways or objective rooms are the perfect spots to set up your lightshow masterpiece.

Denari’s power allows you to be creative with your room setup. We loved exploring new placements to bridge the connectors together, forcing enemies to find alternative ways into the room. Enemies are damaged and have their movement slowed upon setting off a trip connector, and we personally found out that Denari’s ability isn’t to be underestimated.

Denari is arguably the most creative operator in Rainbow Six Siege X, though he could need a bit of balancing depending on how he interacts with other operators.

Denari will likely switch up the attacker meta, too

One important note we took about Denari is that he has quite a few counters. Operators wielding drone abilities, such as Twitch, may be played more often now, as the roaming devices can be used to enter rooms that would otherwise be blocked off by Denari’s lasers.

Denari will likely be the meta on defending teams in Operation High Stakes, so mastering his connector placement will give you an advantage in ranked. Trip connectors are about to completely revamp the battlefield in Siege X, along with the destructible ingredients in the latest modernised maps.

Our hands-on preview offered a glimpse at the beautiful revamped maps and the new character coming in Season 3, and it’s clear to us that Ubisoft won’t be running out of unique operator ideas anytime soon.

Siege X’s next season will be a blast for competitive fans

With an upgrade to the esports tab on the way and Denari likely to shake up ranked play, there’s no doubt that Season 3 is set to be one of the best competitive experiences yet. The modernised Nighthaven Labs is also quite the addition, as it offers an environment that differs from everything else in Siege.

Whether you’ve been a Siege fan since 2015 or are just now jumping on the first-person shooter train, there’s a lot of value coming in Operation High Stakes, so prepare to navigate Denari’s new gadget on September 2.
