Pokémon TCG Pocket has finally added actual art to the three-star, immersive variants of Lugia EX and Ho-Oh EX.
The two rare cards from the Wisdom of Sea and Sky expansion had previously used awkward placeholders.
This is because Pokémon Pocket was forced to remove stolen art from immersive Ho-Oh and Lugia.
The Ho-Oh, which appeared in both cards, was traced over fan art which was wrongfully given to the artist.
However, both the Ho-Oh EX and Lugia EX have had their art changed with all-new poses.
These are replacing the “new art coming soon” placeholders on the cards that players have already collected.
However, many fans are now unhappy with the new Lugia change and prefer the original card art.
One Redditor compared its awkward shape to the pose Dragon Ball Z characters take when going Super Saiyan.
Lugia’s art isn’t believed to be stolen, but DeNa has clearly decided to update it so that its pose matches Ho-Oh.
The two legendaries appear in each other’s immersive animations, so they need to be able to fit on the same card too.
With Ho-Oh’s widespread wings, which do look great, Lugia’s silhouette needed to slim down.
While complaints are understandable, the turnaround from the art team was very quick.
The new card art has been added just 10 days since the expansion released and the art was originally removed.
This also means that the new immersive cards aren’t the reason for the mystery Pokémon Pocket video that has appeared unlisted on the official Pokémon YouTube channel.
Pokémon TCG Pocket fan survey could finally bring dark mode to the game
In other Pokémon Pocket news, the developers have sent a survey in-game to all players asking what can be improved.
Since the game released back in October, many expressed their frustrations with the game’s UI.
Namely, the fact that the game doesn’t have a dark mode for those playing at night.
Whenever players get a notification that their pack stamina has replenished in the evening, they then get blinded by the game’s bright white menus.
Another highly requested feature is to make pack points work universally with any pack.
Currently, whenever Pokémon Pocket players open a pack, they get five points towards a card from that pack.
But buying cards this way is very expensive, and players end up with a lot of old pack points they have no use for.
