To help prep fans for The International 2025, Valve has released a new Dota 2 event called Quartero’s Curios packed with free skins.
On August 5, 2025, Valve dropped a shock update to Dota 2 that added a brand-new event to the game. Titled Quartero’s Curios, the event features three new skins for Witch Doctor, Legion Commander, and Vengeful Spirit that are entirely free to earn. Players can earn the skins by playing games of Dota 2, earning XP based on wins and losses across different game modes. While the event appears to be entirely unrelated to The International, it should tide fans over until that tournament’s in-game event. Players have until November 5 to claim these skins and read through the accompanying visual novel.
New Witch Doctor, Legion Commander, and Vengeful Spirit skins
Players can earn three new skins in the Quartero’s Curios event, including an upgraded version of Legion Commander set.
Witch Doctor’s new Papa Wanga set features more of the hero’s beloved coconut familiars. One sits in his pocket while another rests at the top of his staff. The set also includes a special Death Ward model featuring a coconut soldier playing the flute.

The Maledictions of Morrigan skin for Vengeful Spirit features metal filigree around her mask and belt around her trademark bodysuit. The giant pink gauntlet stands out with pink particle effects that transfer to her attack projectile. Venge players can mix and match parts with their recently-acquired Resurrection of Shen arcana for their preferred look.
The headline Legion Commander set is titled Drakon’s Ire and comes in two different styles. The base form feature giant golden wings and a metallic bull emblem on the back. The massive flaming spear has plenty of particle effects to dazzle opponents during a Duel. However, players who grind all the way up to level 100 before the event ends will earn a black, red, and metal version of the set.

In addition, players can earn a variety of temporary visual effects for items like Radiance, Lotus Orb, Phase Boots, and more. Finally, the event rewards Quartero’s Antiques, which can be traded for a chance at an old skin container, immortals, or even arcanas. Fans have until November 5 to claim as many rewards as they can.
