This week, you can pick up an exciting genre mix set in a cyberpunk world, as well as a charming little card game.
Don’t expect any big blockbusters from Epic’s free games this week, but then again, the company can’t give away Civ 6 every seven days. Keylocker | Turn Based Cyberpunk Action and Pilgrims are now available for free.
Keylocker – Turn-Based Cyberpunk Action
Genre: Turn-based JRPG – Developer: Moonana Games – Release: September 2024
You take on the role of B0B0, a singer living on colonized Saturn, where music has been banned for 141 years. But B0B0 rebels against the oppressive system when she hears about a robot that would be perfect as a drummer for her illegal band.
At the beginning of the game, you choose from different classes such as samurai or hacker, which not only determine your abilities and the level of difficulty, but also the story itself. In addition, each class has its own skill tree.
The battles are basically turn-based, but there is a small twist. Your shots, punches, and parries are executed in the style of a rhythm game and must therefore be well timed.
Keylocker cites the Mario & Luigi RPG series and the JRPG classic Chrono Trigger as its biggest sources of inspiration. On Steam, the game has been rated positively by 87 percent of users.
Pilgrims
This little card game from the creators of Machinarium, Samorost, and Chuchel sends you through many different medieval scenes, such as a tavern or a castle.
Each of these levels is a little puzzle that you have to solve using the cards in your hand. Your cards can be characters that are used in the puzzle or items that bring you closer to the solution.
The whole thing comes to life thanks to the hand-drawn look and playful narrative style of Czech studio Amanita Design, which does without spoken words.
As always, Epic’s free offer is valid for exactly one week. So you have until August 7 to grab Keylocker and Pilgrim. Once added to your library, you can download and play the games at any time. See you again next week at the same time when we’ll introduce the new free offer.
