Battlefield 6 open beta test announced with two chances

Battlefield 6’s October 10, 2025, launch is drawing ever closer, and EA has announced two open beta test weekends so that interested players can try out the upcoming multiplayer mode of the FPS early. Players on all launch platforms – Xbox Series X, PS5, PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and the EA App – will be able to join the open beta, which will be available for two weekends in August.

If you want to take part in the open beta, you can preload the beta test starting on August 4. This will put the files to play Battlefield 6’s multiplayer on your platform of choice, but you won’t be able to play until the playtest launches. If you signed up for Battlefield Labs before July 31, then you will be able to play from August 7, but if you missed the deadline you can grab a code for this first beta period by watching someone streaming it.

If watching streams isn’t your thing, everyone can join the other two beta periods from August 9 to August 11, and from August 14 to August 17. You are welcome to participate in both weekends, so you don’t have to choose between them. The open beta test will be restricted to multiplayer modes and maps, though the main game will include a single-player campaign and the user-generated Portal mode.

Battlefield 6 will improve on Portal; a mode that allows players to create their custom maps, weapons, modes, and gameplay styles. Creating what Battlefield 6 calls Community Experiences, EA plans to support the user-generated mode post-launch with consistent updates and more tools to help players create their own content.

The last game in the Battlefield series, Battlefield 2042, was poorly received at launch in 2021, particularly due to the litany of bugs that plagued the title. However, it received numerous updates over its lifetime, with the last season, Turning Point, launching in March 2024.
