The Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC) and ggCircuit have partnered to launch the world’s first esports venue infrastructure certification.

The aim of the certification is to establish ‘a global standard’ for esports venues across the world.

Using ggCircuit‘s range of technologies and ESIC’s integrity criteria, venues that either meet or exceed the requirements will become ‘Officially Certified Esports Venues,’ positioning them as secure venues suitable for hosting esports events.

Open to esports venues worldwide, the certification aims to establish an esports ecosystem where integrity is at the forefront. As more venues receive certification, tournament organisers can host events knowing the facilities are appropriate for competition.

“This partnership marks the establishment of yet another critical component of integrity infrastructure,” said Stephen Hanna, CEO of ESIC.

“This is a meaningful step forward in our commitment to raising the standard of integrity across every layer of the esports ecosystem.”

Throughout 2025, ESIC has continued its efforts to improve integrity throughout the wider industry. In January, it joined forces with the World Intellectual Property Organisation to launch the International Games and Esports Tribunal to provide dispute resolution to industry stakeholders.

The Commission has also attracted several new members in recent months. June saw the likes of Thunderpick and Gamercraft join the Anti-Corruption Supporter Network and apply integrity codes into its practices.

Esports Integrity In 2025

Esports integrity remains an important topic of conversation among stakeholders as entities look to prevent any wrongdoing across various sectors.

This year, ESIC has distributed several player bans across Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) and StarCraft II esports scenes. In April, Swedish CS2 player Joel ‘joel’ Holmlund received a lifetime ban after using cheats during competition.

Elsewhere, Xue ‘Firefly’ Tao also received a lifetime ban after participating in match-fixing, resulting in his disqualification from the Esports World Cup.
