The biggest EA FC tournament of the year is coming up as the FC Pro 25 World Championship will take place at the Esports World Cup.
Last year’s EWC event was separate from the World Championship, but now the two have combined for 2025.
This year’s tournament will crown the World Champion of EA FC 25 and features an enormous prize pool of $1 million (£750k).
Here is everything you need to know about the event, including the format and the competing players.
Who is competing in the FC Pro 25 World Championship?
The major FC 25 esports event will feature 32 elite players from around the world.
To qualify for the event, players had to perform well at various events, including the FC Pro 25 Open, partner leagues, and the Play-Ins.
The Play-Ins will feature participants from the other qualification events as well as a brutal Last Chance Qualifier in which the top five of 512 competitors will qualify.
When is the FC Pro 25 World Championship?
EA FC 25 is coming to Riyadh next month at the Esports World Cup in August.
There will be a Last Chance Qualifier between July 31st and August 2nd.
That will then decide the final participants in the Play-Ins on August 3rd, as 48 players will compete for the final four places in EWC.
Finally, the EA FC 25 World Champion will then be crowned at the main event between August 7th and August 10th.
Who is the favourite to win the FC Pro 25 World Championship?
As the biggest and most prestigious tournament in the esport’s calendar, there is intense competition for the FC Pro trophy.
Current favourite is probably the current leader of the FC Pro World Rankings, Anders ‘Vejrgang‘ Vejrgang from RBZL Gaming.
The Dane was notorious even before he became a pro player, as he racked up a ludicrous 535-game FUT Champions win streak back in FIFA 21 as a teenager.
Vejrgang won both the virtual Bundesliga and the $100k (£75k) FC Pro 25 Open and finished runner-up in the eChampions League.
The latter was won by Emre ‘EmreYilmaz‘ Yilmaz, who also previously won the prestigious event in 2023.
After Team Liquid’s acquisition of Team Gullit, EmreYilmaz’s performance could be crucial to their $27m Esports World Cup Club Championship bid.
Last year’s EA FC, Esports World Cup event was won by João ‘jafonsogv’ Vasconcelos, who was representing Luna Esports owned by the late Diogo Jota who had a long history in esports.
Now, the Portuguese pro has qualified for the event again through the FC Pro Open and will be hoping to match last year’s heroics.
And you can never write off British pro Donovan ‘Tekkz’ Hunt, who has won numerous trophies through his prestigious career but has never been a World Champion.

In my seven years of esports writing, I’ve introuduced esports coverage to newspapers, interviewed some of the biggest names in the industry, and driven viewers mad with the puns in my YouTube scripts. I’m most proud of the latter.
