Jojopyun claims ARAMs are the secret to get good at LoL

ARAMs were the best-kept secret to improving in League of Legends, but freshly-crowned pro Jojopyun just spilled the beans.

Movistar KOI mid laner Joseph “Jojopyun” Pyun just finished a stellar season by winning his first League of Legends EMEA Championship playoffs and earning top eight at the Esports World Cup, including a game win over T1. The former LCS icon discussed his success in a recent stream, where he claimed that queueing All Random, All Mid was the secret to his success. ARAMs are often considered a fun distraction rather than a serious way to train, leading fans to react with shock.

Here’s what Jojopyun had to say about spamming ARAMs and why they can help you get better at LoL.

Jojopyun claims ARAMs are better than solo queue

In a stream on July 21, 2025, Jojopyun attributed his victory in the LEC Spring split to playing ARAMs over solo queue.

“I stopped playing solo queue for the last three months… I legit played, like, one solo queue a week and I just spammed ARAMs. And I promise you bro, playing ARAMs over solo queue, even for pros, is just so much better. I think we won LEC because I was just playing ARAMs,” said Jojopyun during the stream.

His chat immediately contested the statement, with some claiming that he was “rage baiting.” However, others vouched for his claim, saying that ARAMs are a great way to train for team fights. The random nature of the draft and chaotic gameplay loop force players to adapt on the fly while reacting to every other players’ actions.

Looking at Jojopyun’s North American account, we can verify the claim that he has reduced his solo queue play in favor of ARAMs.  There are several days where he doesn’t play on Summoner’s Rift at all and just grinds League’s most popular party mode. His European account shows the same pattern. Even if he’s exaggerating for the sake of the stream, there’s clearly some truth to his claim.

Still, there are elements of the game that are impossible to practice in ARAM. Laning is the most obvious, as there is no replicated early game in ARAM. It’s also impossible to grind a specific champ since the draft is completely random. Some characters also have special balance changes in ARAM due to their kits’ compatibility, or incompatibility, with the mode. Still, for training raw mechanics and team fighting, spamming the alternate mode may be the most time-efficient option.
