The Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) 2025 has eliminated another contestant as Chinese team, Anyone’s Legend (AL) defeats Asia-Pacific representative, CTBC Flying Oyster (CFO).

CTBC Flying Oyster Gets Out-Drafted by Anyone’s Legend

In the first game, CFO was dealt a tough draft with strong Bard and Yorick counter-picks from Anyone’s Legend against its Alistar and Gragas. With its side lanes falling behind early, CFO shifted its focus towards dragon stacking to stop AL from taking over.

Despite AL’s best attempts at suffocating its opponent from resources and vision across the map, CFO fought back valiantly during team fights to reach Dragon Soul Point. This was made possible by a confident performance from Chiu ‘Doggo’ Tzu-chuan on Miss Fortune.

However, it was ultimately AL’s Kim ‘Kael’ Jin-hong who determined the outcome of the game. His Bard ult and smite secured the third dragon for the LPL side, allowing his team to invade the enemy base at 33:35.

Anyone’s Legend Nearly Fumbles the Second Game

The series continued with another favourable early game for Anyone’s Legend. Following the second-fastest First Blood of all time, secured by CFO, AL came out on top to funnel two kills into the Lucian. Afterwards, the LCP team was punished several times for its indecisiveness around neutral objectives, leaving CFO short on power and gold.

Yet, a miracle Skarner ult in minute 26, allowed CFO to ace its opponent and claim the Baron. AL’s 9,000 gold lead was overcome, and the game seemed heavily in CFO’s favour. It was then CFO’s turn to fumble. The squad took unnecessary risks and was forced to concede both the second Elder Drake and the second Baron. After 41:29, Anyone’s Legend finally had all the resources it needed to end the game.

Facing match point, CFO pulled off a dominant game three from start to finish. While the match commenced more slowly, the LCP team won a crucial skirmish to secure the first dragon. Moreover, CFO successfully defended its Orianna in mid from early enemy pressure.

Although some of its members were occasionally caught out by AL, CFO stacked the majority of neutral objectives, including the Mountain Soul and Baron. It was once again Doggo who had a major impact on his team’s victorious team fights. Fuelled by the bot-laner’s 7/0/9 Ezreal, CFO denied a 0-3 sweep within 33:29.

The Flying Oysters Cannot Escape Kael Hooks

During the final game of the series, it first looked like CFO would take another early lead. As AL’s Sylas struggled against a difficult Aurora match-up in mid, his teammates were repeatedly ganked on the side lanes. However, the LPL side maintained an even game with a shutdown on Doggo and smart adaptations to create map pressure.

The decisive team fight took place in minute 26, when Kael on Blitzcrank landed an incredible hook on the enemy support, enabling AL to slay its second dragon as well as the Baron. Three minutes later, the LPL squad eliminated CFO from MSI.

MSI Continues With Bilibili Gaming Versus FlyQuest

The lower bracket matches at MSI will continue tomorrow (9th July) at 1 am BST with a best-of-five (BO5) series between the LPL’s Bilibili Gaming (BLG) and North American team FlyQuest. The winner will face AL on July 11th to determine who will advance to the Lower Bracket Final.

In between the two days, League of Legends fans can tune into a highly competitive Upper Bracket Final between the LCK’s Gen.G Esports and T1.

All games will be broadcast via the official Twitch and YouTube channels as well as associated co-streamers.
