Game developer Gunzilla Games recently revealed its GUNZ ecosystem report for June 2025. This includes a lot of new milestones and big developments in the web3 market.
Blockchain Milestones and Game Launch Progress
In June, the studio reached a key milestone when more than 21,000 players transferred their in-game assets from testnet to mainnet.
These assets include weapons, cybernetic limbs and cosmetic skins, reinforcing the shift toward blockchain-based ownership and the ability to trade assets beyond the game.
Around 10,000 of these nodes were activated. Meanwhile, the GUNZ Marketplace saw significant activity, with 413,000 HEX decodings — a process that unlocks tradable in-game items — and nearly $13m in total trading volume for June.
With regulatory approval nearing completion, Gunzilla is preparing to move its entire user base of 17.3 million wallets onto the blockchain.
These developments coincide with Off The Grid’s Steam Early Access launch this July. Off The Grid is a free-to-play third-person cyberpunk PvP battle royale combat game that integrates blockchain tech in its gameplay.
The game now supports cross-play on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, along with gameplay updates like faster combat, improved weapons, new cyber-limb modules, Ranked Mode testing and additional PvP maps.
While the Steam version does not include Web3 features due to platform policies, Gunzilla is still building its blockchain infrastructure. Players can choose to mint NFTs based on in-game achievements, trade assets on-chain and earn $GUN tokens through gameplay. Validator node holders also help grow the ecosystem while earning rewards.
Due to Steam’s policy restrictions, this version does not include blockchain features such as NFTs or $GUN token integration. Gunzilla addresses this through a dual-access model. Players can enjoy traditional web2 gameplay on Steam while accessing web3 features separately.
Those who want full blockchain functionality, including asset ownership, token trading, and validator participation, can do so off-platform. This approach preserves player choice while sidestepping the technical and regulatory challenges common in blockchain gaming.
With upcoming partnerships, such as the Avalanche-based Blackhole exchange, aimed at improving $GUN token liquidity, and a full VASP license on the horizon, Gunzilla is laying the groundwork for a fully scalable, regulatory-compliant gaming economy.
The web3 gaming economy continues to grow with developments. Just last month, B3 announced its plans to build a gaming PC with crypto-specific security features.
