It’s easy to imagine an RTS version of Resident Evil; you could put Jill Valentine in place of Tanya, bellow out ‘Act on Instinct’, and have a face-off between a Mammoth Tank and a Tyrant. The closest we’ve come to an RTS version of Resident Evil is probably a Warcraft 3 mod, but that could change soon as Capcom reveals Resident Evil: Survival Unit, a new strategy game co-developed with JOYCITY and Aniplex.
PC players will no doubt be disappointed to hear that it’s in development for iOS and Android mobile devices, but we’re still interested in learning more and seeing how it handles the genre. More details will be revealed during a livestream on July 10 at 3:00 p.m. PT / 6:00 p.m. ET.
“Resident Evil: Survival Unit offers a fresh take on the beloved franchise, reimagining the survival horror universe as a real-time strategy experience optimized for mobile platforms, iOS and Android,” reads a press release sent to us by Capcom. “The game is designed to appeal to both longtime fans and new players.”
Similar to the recently revealed Resident Evil: Requiem survival horror game, Resident Evil: Survival Unit appears to be set in Raccoon City. We don’t have any other details at the moment, and it doesn’t seem to be in development for PC, but that could change in the future.
More details will be revealed on July 10th, and we will be watching.
