Danish esports organisation OG Esports are hosting open trials to scout Marvel Rivals esports talent.
This news comes after the current OG Seed team failed to qualify for the EMEA Marvel Rivals Ignite – Stage 1 Playoffs.
Consequently, this meant OG didn’t get to compete to qualify for the Mid-Season Finals and are now on a break.
They aren’t alone as EMEA favourites Virtus.Pro will also miss Marvel Rivals’ first esports LAN after a shock elimination from the Stage 1 Playoffs.
The OG MR Combine has been set up to give talented players from around the world a chance to join OG’s academy pipeline.
However, OG says this isn’t about making roster changes but discovering new talent and remaining competitive in Marvel Rivals.
Experienced esports organisation OG automatically qualified for the Ignite Stage 1 Group Stages in EMEA.
OG were invited after finishing fourth in the European Season 1 Championship and second in the EMEA Marvel Rivals invitational.
However, come the Stage 1 tournament, OG struggled.
An early 2-0 defeat to Schmungus in the Group Stages knocked them down into the Lower Bracket.
Then, after defeating ZERO.PERCENT, OG lost 2-1 to All Business in a close series and were eliminated from Ignite Stage 1.
With a lot of time before Marvel Rivals Ignite Stage 2 gets underway, OG are using that break to scout for future talent.
According to the application page, OG wants players of all skill levels to sign up; both season competitors and up-and-coming pros.
It appears OG may also be looking for coaching staff, as the application mentions welcoming talent in and out of the game.
The OG MR Combine press release says selected applicants will be invited to participate in a structured evaluation process.
This will supposedly judge individuals’ in-game performances and their out-of-game dynamics with “a focus on individual excellence and team dynamics.”
The evaluation will be overseen by OG’s experienced staff, with the org aiming to give every participant high-level feedback and “development opportunities.”
Marvel Rivals’ first esports LAN – Ignite Mid-Season Finals
The Marvel Rivals esports scene is rapidly growing.
Every recent tournament has been part of the $3 million Marvel Rivals Ignite series which is the game’s biggest esports event ever.
After intense competition, which saw Virtus.Pro lose a tournament for the first time and face elimination, the world’s best teams will compete at the Ignite Mid-Season Finals.
The event will be hosted in Guangzhou, China as the first ever LAN tournament in Marvel Rivals esports history.
Just 10 teams from around the world will compete at the tournament, which has a $500k (£366k) prize pool.
