While Skyrim is still being released on new platforms, The Elder Scrolls 6 remains a phantom. Since the teaser at E3 2018, there has been radio silence – no gameplay scenes, no rough release window, only occasional signs of life.
In the meantime, however, Bethesda has kept its loyal fans happy with other samples. Just recently, the technically polished Oblivion Remastered was released, which did not meet all expectations, but sent an important signal: the series is alive – and kicking.
Behind the scenes, however, it seems that bigger things are on the move.
A small comeback that could reveal a lot
If the rumors are true, then gamescom 2025 of all events could be the turning point. The world’s biggest gaming event in Cologne – from August 20 to 24 – would be the ideal stage for Bethesda’s grand entrance. After all, the waiting time is now record-breaking: A whole 14 years have passed since the release of Skyrim
.
There has been no official statement so far. Bethesda and Microsoft have remained silent on the speculation. Nevertheless, the mere possibility of a new trailer is causing excitement. Could the video finally show the first scenes of the new game world? Or even a rough release date?
Even if it’s just an atmospheric cinematic trailer, it would be a significant sign of life – and would take the talk surrounding The Elder Scrolls 6 to a new level. Until then, we’ll just have to hope, wait – and listen carefully to every little rustle from the Bethesda cosmos.
