Evo 2025 is shaping up to be one of the biggest fighting game events of all time, with record signups for multiple tournaments taking place in Las Vegas from August 1st-3rd.

One stand-out title that’s making a mark at Evo 2025 is Marvel vs. Capcom 2. According to Evo staff, the MvC2 tournament at Evo this summer will be the biggest of all time for the game, which has been around for 25 years.

The exact amount of competitors who signed up hasn’t been revealed yet, but with registration ending by today there should be some numbers soon.

Evo 2025 Shares Registration Leaderboard

Evo’s Marvel vs. Capcom 2 tourney may be the biggest the game has ever seen but it’s far from the biggest tournament at Evo itself. Last year, MvC2 had just 232 players but this year should see a lot more competitors. Still, it’s not at the top of Evo’s leaderboard.

On July 1st, Evo shared the registration leaderboard for its fighting game tournaments and Marvel vs. Capcom 2 was nowhere near the top. Here are the biggest tournaments based on registration so far:

  • Street Fighter 6
  • Tekken 8
  • Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves
  • Guilty Gear -Strive-
  • Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising
  • Marvel vs. Capcom 2
  • Under Night In-Birth II Sys: Celes
  • Mortal Kombat 1

This echoes a similar showing for Evo Japan earlier this year. Ahead of that tournament, Evo shared the total registration numbers, which were a record-breaking amount of participants across multiple titles:

1. Street Fighter 6 – 6,536
2. Tekken 8 – 960
3. Guilty Gear -Strive- – 676
4. Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising – 474
5. Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. 5on5 – 433
6. Street Fighter 3: Third Strike 5on5 – 363
7. King of Fighters 15 – 289

The FGC expects even larger numbers at Evo 2025 in Las Vegas. Last year’s event became the esports event with the most registered competitors in history, with over 10,000 unique registrations. This year could raise the record again.

While fighting games are still not as popular as other esports titles like League of Legends and Counter-Strike 2, Evo has remained a proving ground and community hub for the fighting game community year after year, proving the passion and dedication of the FGC is not only unwavering but growing.
