Death Stranding 2 amazes with almost magical technology: loading times are a thing of the past and make fans believe in witchcraft.

Death Stranding 2is currently causing great amazement – and not just because of its weird story or cryptic Kojima moments. Rather, it is a technical masterpiece that is astonishing PS5 players by the dozen:The loading times are so short that they are practically non-existent.

Kojima must have made a pact with the devil

The reactions on social networks are overwhelming. Players are posting clips in which they are catapulted from the main menu straight into the game in a matter of seconds:

Death Stranding 2 has the fastest loading time I’ve EVER seen in a video game.

Don’t blink or you’ll miss it. It’s literally instant.DeathStranding DeathStranding2 pic.twitter.com/2PWkNN92JI

Comments such as These are the fastest loading times I’ve ever seen or Kojima has definitely made a deal with the devil are not uncommon among the posts. People are impressed and therefore joke that things can no longer be right here.

The technology behind the magic trick

Death Stranding 2 runs on an enhanced version of the Decima Engine, which was originally developed by Guerrilla Games. However, the real stroke of genius lies in the interplay between the engine and hardware, as the experts from Digital Foundry explain in theirtech review video

.

Death Stranding 2 uses the PS5 SSD to its full potential. The game uses the high bandwidth and speed of the SSD to stream data in the background at lightning speed.

Even before you reach the main menu, the game starts loading the most important game data in the background. As a result, the actual loading process is almost complete at startup or after death before you even realize it. In addition, there are sophisticated algorithms that only fetch the data that is currently required into the main memory, further minimizing loading times.

The loading times of Death Stranding 2 arealmost identical on the PS5 and PS5 Proand are among the fastest currently possible on consoles. Regardless of whether you are playing on the standard PS5 or the PS5 Pro: Switching from the main menu to the game or loading a save game is almost instantaneous on both systems, loading screens are practically imperceptible in everyday life.
