Tlön Industries, the maker of planetary simulation game Per Aspera, today unveiled strategic god game Demiurgos as its newest project. Vying for the dusty throne of a genre that seldom makes the spotlight these days, the title gathers deities like Poseidon, Marduk, Loki, and Anubis around a cosmic tabletop arena reminiscent of our planet, pitting them against each other.
Our ultimate goal is claiming Celestial Titles – the equivalent of victory points “earned through unique, challenging conditions,” – before other competing gods. To do that, we tap into each god’s distinct playstyle, using miracles to shape the land, gathering followers, and deciding whether we want to take the path of a benevolent deity or if we, instead, prefer ruling through fear.

Ensuring our followers’ needs are satisfied increases their devotion, enabling us to command priests to do our bidding while customizing our religion using a variety of different tenets.
Demiurgos also allows us to express our divine will by terraforming the land. Its reveal trailer, which you’ll find embedded below, shows how raising land can be used both as a bridge to a far island and, potentially, a means of blocking opponents by literally putting a whole mountain in their path.
Our godly powers take more violent shapes, too, as we can summon storms, earthquakes, and meteor showers to devastate our enemies’ followers.
But if we’re not in the mood for bloodlust, there are other ways of convincing mortals – whose cardboard cutout-style depiction neatly contrasts the 3D assets making up the rest of the board – to switch sides.
Naturally, rival gods have plans of their own and react to our interference, so it’s great to learn that Demiurgos features a “pausable real-time environment” that should let us carefully assess the state of each game before making crucial moves.
There’s likely much more to the game – which takes its name from the mysterious entity organizing the cosmic tabletop game between deities – to uncover once it goes live, but this initial showing should put it on the radar of anyone craving a new god game in their life.
Publisher and developer Tlön Industries hasn’t shared information about a potential release date for Demiurgos, but plans to add new gods and powers through DLCs and updates once the title becomes available.
