A Call of Duty: Warzone player has called for the ban of a weapon and its respective category ahead of the World Series of Warzone (WSOW).
The Season 4 Reloaded update for Call of Duty‘s battle royale title sparked a meta change, resulting in one weapon dominating competitive matches.
The mid-season update introduced a range of buffs and nerfs, with the aim of offering players an increased variety of weapons to use in casual and Ranked Play matches. One weapon that received a significant buff was the DM10 marksman rifle, with several deeming the weapon overpowered.
As a result of the rifle’s newfound dominance, AG Global Warzone player, Rhys ‘Rated’ Price, has called upon the developers to ban the weapon from the World Series of Warzone.
“Marksman rifles are an absolute snooze fest for Ranked and WSOW. Absolutely nothing competitive about dying in three to four bullets by a team of three using it from any range,” said Price.
“Please ban marksman rifles for Ranked and WSOW.”
Rated isn’t the only player calling on Warzone’s developers and the tournament organisers to restrict the marksman rifle category from competitive play. “Honestly, all marksman rifles should be gone,” added Leviatan player Deus Amir.
Will Marksman Rifles Get Banned From Warzone?
Raven Software, the lead developer of Warzone, is no stranger to addressing the feedback of players loading into matches. On several occasions, it has addressed community concerns with additional hotfixes to ensure balance is maintained.
Although details on the WSOW event have yet to appear, several names will be hoping that a change to weapon balancing is on its way.
Before the World Series of Warzone takes place, the battle royale heads to the Esports World Cup from August 6th to 9th, where 21 teams from across the world will compete for a share of a $1m (~£732,825) prize pool.
