Stronghold Crusader: Definitive Edition launches on July 15, and while it already looks amazing, it seems that FireFly Studios will be supporting it into late 2025 at least. Here’s what we’ve just learned about its post-launch roadmap.
This remastered re-release of the RTS classic was among the most exciting surprise announcements we got during the early months of 2025, and with good reason: It’s packing everything you’d like to have in a modern RTS, from modding tools to reworked, more advanced AI opponents to all sorts of multiplayer modes. Now, we also know FireFly is planning to add tons of new features to the (hopefully notable) re-release in the coming months.
We can expect both Autumn and Winter free content updates along with “two separate paid DLCs” which we’ll learn about later. Watch the post-launch plans video below:
If you’re short on time, here’s a quick rundown of what each major update will bring to the game:
Stronghold Crusader: Definitive Edition’s Autumn Update content
- Five missions that will challenge players to complete a series of economic objectives.
- A new AI commander selectable in the offline skirmish and online MP modes as an opponent or ally.
- Three new maps, one for skirmish, another in Free Build mode, and a balanced MP battlefield.
- The accompanying paid DLC will add two extra AI lords and a new ‘Sands of Time’ trail.
Stronghold Crusader: Definitive Edition’s Winter Update content
- Customisable CPU opponents, castles, and campaigns with modding and Steam Workshop support.
- A second co-op campaign of missions.
- Another new map pack with three maps.
- The accompanying paid DLC will add two extra AI lords and a new ‘Sands of Time’ trail.
Extra additions and improvements coming to the game during the post-launch support include leaderboards, auto-trade, and extra art/model enhancements.
