The Esports World Cup Foundation (EWCF) has expanded its presence within the Indian esports ecosystem.

Developments include a regional partnership with an unnamed streaming services company and a direct invitation for a Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) team to compete at the Esports World Cup.

According to the organisers of the Esports World Cup, the developments in India ‘mark a key milestone’ in EWCF’s goal to unite’ global esports fans under one competitive platform’.

The EWCF had already begun increasing its presence within India, after naming S8UL Esports as part of its expanded partner programme for the 2025 Esports World Cup.

“The Esports World Cup’s growing purpose is to unite the global gaming community, and that means investing in regions driving the future of the industry,” said Mike McCabe, Chief Operating Officer of the EWCF.

“India is central to that vision. With hundreds of millions of mobile-first players, it’s home to an ecosystem evolving at an incredible pace. Through expanded partnerships and competitive pathways, we’re shaping the future of Indian esports.”

As part of the expansion, the winners of the Battlegrounds Mobile India Pro Series (BMPS) will compete at the event. Whilst not confirmed, this is likely to be EWC’s PUBG Mobile competition, which includes a special invite slot.

Esports World Cup Foundation’s Expansion

Since launching the Esports World Cup, the EWCF has continued its efforts to expand across several areas of the esports industry. In February, it secured a deal with Tencent in a deal aimed at improving engagement and connecting Chinese esports with the rest of the world.

Elsewhere, it has also partnered with Riot Games to bring League of Legends, VALORANT, and Teamfight Tactics to the multi-title event.

The EWCF is backed by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund, an initiative backed by the Kingdom’s government. The organiser has faced criticism from various stakeholders surrounding esportswashing allegations, in addition to Saudi Arabia’s human rights record.
