Zaahen in League of Legends: Everything we know so far

League of Legends is known for having a huge roster of champions for players to choose from, with more than 170 as of October 2025. Despite the number of characters, there is always excitement for what kind of champion will be introduced to the League of Legends world. 

The next LoL champion is thought to be a character called Zaheen, but Riot Games has yet to announce anything. However, there have been a significant number of leaks from reliable sources, so let’s take a look at everything we know about Zaheen from these leaks so far.

Be aware that at the time of writing, this all comes from rumours, leaks, and speculation taken from a motion comic, so take it with a pinch of salt. The leaks come from a YouTube video by insider Big Bad Bear. We’ll keep you updated when any official information drops, but for now, let’s check out the leaks. 

According to the leaks, Zaahen is a Darkin champion. In League of Legends, Darkin are God Warriors who have become corrupted due to their trauma from the Void War and their use of blood magic. If Zaahen really is a Darkin, he will be the fifth Darkin Champion in LoL, following Aaatrox, Varus, Rhaast and Naafiri. 

The Darkin are known for needing a living host. Rhaast is confined within a weapon wielded by the champion Kayn, though he is often attempting to gain control of Kayn’s body. Aatrox does not have one single host. Instead, he absorbs and reforms stolen mortal bodies. Varus has two hosts, humans Kai and Valmar, who were once archers. Naafiri uses a pack of Shuriman Dune Hounds as a collective host group. Zaahen, however, is rumoured to be different from his fellow Darkin, as he does not need a living host. Instead, he is rumoured to have a body that was created just for him. The leaks say that Zaahen’s body is made from a magic-absorbing material called petricite, which comes from the prestigious kingdom of Demacia in the League of Legends lore. 

One of the most noteworthy elements of Zaahen’s leaked design is his weapon, which is thought to be a glaive. A glaive was featured in the in-client mini game called “The Demon’s Hand”, but it was also included in an update to the champion Atakhan. In a PBE update, Atakhan’s model was changed to wield a Darkin Glaive, which could be a tease for a narrative link between the two champions. 

In the above motion comic called “The Truth”, Zaahen was prefaced even more. In the comic, he is shown to have previously been a Shurima warrior before he became a Darkin. It also shows him having a connection to other champions, such as Rhaast, whom he had sealed away, and Yunara. 

Seeing as all this information comes from leaks and speculation, it’s no surprise that there is no official release date for Zaahen. He has not been confirmed by Riot Games as of yet, but much like with everything else, there is speculation regarding the topic. 

Based on the timing of teaser information, speculation is placing a release date for Zaahen in the second half of Season 3. Season 3 began in August 2025, and the second half of the season is expected to drop in mid-October 2025. While this is of course just speculative, it seems possible that Zaahen could arrive in League of Legends with the next patch, or before 2025 comes to an end. 

The aforementioned video from Big Bad Bear included a potential list of abilities for Zaahen, but as always, be aware that this is currently only rumoured. A similar set of leaks was released for Yunara, and her kit was different when she was finally released. Here’s what the leaks say about Zaahen’s rumoured skill kit:

Zaahen’s leaked skills suggest that he will have similarities to heroes such as Leona and Kayn. His rumoured crowd control skills are much like Leona’s and Xin Zhao’s. The area of effect damage and slowing abilities are reminiscent of Kayn’s skills, while a resurrection ability would be similar to a passive that Zaahen’s fellow Darkin Aatrox used to have. 

Role-wise, Zaahen is thought to be a bruiser or fighter style of character who would be best suited to the Jungle or the Top Lane. Once again, it’s important to remember that this is all just speculation based on information taken from leaks and teasers. Even if the leaks are entirely true, Zaahen’s abilities could be subject to change before he is officially confirmed and released as a champion in League of Legends. 

So far, most of what we know about Zaahen comes from leaks and speculation. Riot Games has only offered up tidbits of teasing information about their next champion, and nothing can be confirmed until that official announcement drops. For now though, if the leaks turn out to be completely true, it would seem that Zaahen could be an interesting addition to League of Legends as a bruiser like Top Lane or Jungle champion.
