Endless Legend 2’s Steam Early Access debut has been a strong one, yet it remains the first step in a long journey. Now, developer Amplitude Studios and publisher Hooded Horse have shared what’s in store for the fantasy 4X game in the coming months with a concise roadmap of content and QoL updates.
“Working with our players has always been at the heart of Amplitude’s philosophy, as you know best what you want from our game. This is why we decided to bring ENDLESS™ Legend 2 to Early Access, and after spending a few days reading your feedback, we are ready to share our plan until early next year along with a little tease of what lies ahead down the road.”
You can find the roadmap image shared on October 1 below, but scroll down for our thoughts on these plans plus a bit of extra news on what the team is aiming to do with the UI and UX experience.
Balancing and stability appear to be the main focus at this stage. We made notes about the former matter in our early access impressions piece, so it comes as no surprise the devs are already looking at making the whole game less unfair. We’re well aware it’s quite hard to find the sweet point when it comes to deeply asymmetrical 4X games, so this might be a lengthy and ongoing effort as Endless Legend 2 walks towards its 1.0 release.
Multiplayer will be the next big thing coming to the game, since the team isn’t comfortable with opening the online gates yet. This is tied to the aforementioned balancing issues and needed work, so just hold tight.
Meanwhile, however, Amplitude Studios will be releasing a few changes and improvements to the UI/UX, as described via a separate blog post. The studio’s 4X games have often struggled with relaying some of the information clearly, so expect to see plenty of changes in that area if the developers continue to listen to the community. Right now, it appears the empire and city screens/menus will see changes.
Beyond that, and it appears that not before Q2 2026, we can expect modding support, a sixth faction, more content, extra game speeds, and further Steam Deck optimizations for those who want to play Endless Legend 2 on the go. For now, both Hooded Horse and Amplitude are encouraging players to share their thoughts via the social channels and forums, with Amplifiers at the center of it all.
