MIBR and NRG send Team Heretics and GIANTX to VALORANT Champions Paris Lower Bracket

The second day of the VALORANT Champions Paris Playoffs saw dominant performances from the Americas teams, MIBR and NRG.

Both squads clean-swept their opponents, Team Heretics and GIANTX respectively, to set up a clash against each other in the next match-up.

MIBR barely made it to Champions through a tiebreaker in the Championship Points standings. However, with Andrew ‘Verno‘ Maust stepping into the IGL role, the team has been impressive so far in the event.

Fans expected the clash between MIBR and Team Heretics to be a close affair; however, the American representatives raced to a 5-1 lead. The first half ended with an 8-4 scoreline, but the second half is when the game truly heated up.

Heretics won six out of the next seven rounds to reach 10-9, but MIBR made some great adjustments to hit match point. The game wasn’t over yet as Team Heretics pushed it to overtime; however, the team couldn’t convert it into a victory as MIBR closed out the map by 14-12.

The first half of Sunset heavily favoured MIBR, with Heretics managing to win just three rounds. While the EMEA side secured the first two rounds of the second half, it wasn’t enough to stop MIBR from taking the map by 13-6 and the series by 2-0.

NRG secured one of its easiest wins in VALORANT Champions Paris against GIANTX, thrashing the opponents by 13-1 on Haven. Brock ‘brawk‘ Somerhalder, the team’s initiator, delivered a jaw-dropping performance with a K/D/A of 18/1/8.

Although GIANTX started off Lotus by winning the opening two rounds, NRG quickly crushed the roster’s hopes by snatching nine of the next ten rounds. The American squad ultimately won the map by 13-6 and the series by  2-0.

The losing teams from the first round of the Playoffs will fight on September 27th in the Lower Bracket to keep their hopes alive in the tournament.

G2 will face DRX, while Team Heretics will take on GIANTX and the winners will move on to the next round of the Lower Bracket. That said, one thing is certain i.e. the event will say goodbye to one EMEA team.
