Treyarch has shared further details regarding some of the 18 multiplayer maps that will arrive with the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.

The latest insight from the developer of the Black Ops series sheds light on the decision behind Japan being a setting for several of the battlegrounds.

As part of the Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2025 broadcast, Treyarch and Beenox shared a closer look at Toshin and Den, two maps set in the Land of the Rising Sun.

Set in a near-futuristic version of Tokyo, Toshin features three well-defined lanes with a crashed subway train in the middle. The map also contains several cultural references to Japan, including a cat cafe and a karaoke bar.

Den is the second map set in Japan and steps away from the city. Set within an ancient castle that’s turned into an advanced technology facility, the map contains several opportunities for players to utilise wall-jumping mechanics on the outside lanes in addition to close-quarters combat within its central areas.

“For the first time in franchise history, Black Ops takes players deep into Japan, not just as a backdrop, but as a major region woven across the entire experience,” said Miles Leslie, Associate Creative Director at Treyarch.

Will These Maps Feature In The CDL?

With Treyarch sticking to its tried-and-tested three-lane map design philosophy, there is a possibility of Toshin and Den featuring within the map pool of the Call of Duty League (CDL).

Several professional players recently visited Treyarch’s studios to test Black Ops 7 ahead of the beta weekend, giving them an opportunity to provide feedback for various aspects of the title.

FaZe Vegas player Chris ‘Simp’ Lehr shared his excitement for the upcoming season, while Joseph ‘JoeDeceives’ Romero suggested the title could be one of the franchise’s best.
