FragPunk developer Bad Guitar Studios has announced new shard cards, mode updates, and in-game events such as a ‘Grand Tournament’, in its September patch notes.
The update is scheduled to take place on September 25th at 10:00 AM (UTC+8), with an estimated downtime of 3 hours before fans can jump back into the game.
One of the highlight pieces of content arriving with the update is the ‘Invite Your Friends’ Grand Tournament, an in-game challenge series offering the chance to win 7,500 limited-time FragPunk coins.
Players can earn the chance to win coins by participating in limited-time events, completing challenges, and competing for higher rankings. The coins can then be used to purchase items from the in-game shop or unlock premium and ultimate battle passes.
What Else is Coming With the Update?
A new mode will also launch on September 25th called Deck Gear Up. Players build decks towards certain playstyles and earn gear points in the game to activate them and buy equipment. Games are BO15, with planting/defusing converters or eliminating all enemies as winning conditions.
The developers have also added a new gameplay mechanic to FragPunk’s Outbreak mode called Mortal Bastions. According to Bad Guitar Studios, when survivor counts drop to a certain level, remaining players can choose to spend shard points to become Mortal bastions to enhance their abilities.
Finally, the third volume of Shard Cards is coming to the competitive FPS, and will appear more frequently in Shard Clash and Chaos Clash. There will be 13 cards for Shard Clash, such as Detection Bullet, which allows the last bullet of a magazine to reveal nearby enemies, and five Chaos Clash cards, including Speed Limit, which damages players who move too fast.
There will also be additional changes coming to FragPunk, including balance changes to Lancers, the game’s playable characters, to the cost of certain Shard Cards, and slight nerfs and buffs to weapons such as the Boom Broom.
