Marvel Rivals: Angela skill kit, explained

Angela is, at the time of writing, the most recent hero introduced to Marvel Rivals in the latest season, and she brings a unique set of skills to the Vanguard role. Angela is the first flying Vanguard in Marvel Rivals, offering a different gameplay style to the traditional Vanguard position. 

We’re going to break down Angela’s skill kit so you can get a better idea of the most effective way to play her and how she has impacted the general meta of Marvel Rivals. 

Angela in Marvel Rivals

Angela is a Vanguard, the equivalent of a tank in Marvel Rivals. She joined the game in Season 4: Heart of the Dragon. Angela is also the latest Asgardian to join Marvel Rivals, following in the footsteps of her younger siblings Thor, Loki and Hela.

In the Marvel Rivals lore, Angela is the long-lost sister of Thor and daughter of Odin. As an infant, her name was Aldrif, but she was kidnapped and raised by the Angels of the Tenth Realm. Angela adapted to her new life and became a fearsome warrior among the angels, earning the name Hand of Heven.

As mentioned, Angela is the first flying Vanguard hero in Marvel Rivals, which creates a unique take on the traditional grounded Vanguard role. Her flight abilities make her highly mobile, while her other abilities emphasise crowd control and ally buffs in specific areas. 

Angela can also become grounded, with her weapon switching when she does so. When flying, Angel has an aerial spear that she can launch at enemies. When on the ground, she uses an axe. This offers a significant amount of versatility to Angela’s skill kit. Let’s look a little more closely at Angela’s abilities.

• Casting: Melee.
• Charge-Damage Conversion Ratio:45%.

• Special Effect: At full charge, Spear of Ichor can launch up enemies and cause 15 extra damage.

Transform Ichors into a shield, gaining Attack Charge when absorbing damage.
Special ability Divine Judgement • Bonus Health: Within the Divine Judgement zone, Angela’s each Axes of Ichors hit grants 30 Bonus Health to herself and 15 Bonus Health to allies within the area.

Dive downward, switch to twin axes and infuse the ground with Ichors to create a Divine Judgement Zone upon impact. Within the zone, gain enhanced Speed and attacks grant Bonus Health to self and nearby allies.

• Ascent Height: 8m
Take to the skies, switching back to Spear of Ichor.
Special ability Assassin’s Charge • Cooldown: 3s.
• Energy Cost: 25/s; 75/s when piercing an enemy.

• Energy Required To Activate The Ability: 30.
• Maximum Energy: 100.

Enter an accelerated dash state, becoming immune to knock-back and launch-up. Enemies struck head-on are carried through the air for a short distance.
Passive ability Seraphic Soar • Glide Activation Condition: Maintain the forward speed faster than 5m/s for 1s.
• Glide Speed: 10m/s.
• Passive Energy Gained During Glide: 22.2/s.
• Time Required To Enter Glide: 0.1s
Glide freely through the air. Continuous flight builds Attack Charge.
Ultimate ability Heven’s Retribution • Energy Cost: 3100.
• Hit Ground Damage: 100.
• Hit Ground Spell Field Range: 8m spherical radius.
• Projectile Speed: 60 m/s.
• Spell Field Damage: 10.
• Spell Field Range:8m spherical radius.
• Special Effect: Mobility abilities of enemies bound by the ribbons will be disabled. Enemies within a certain distance around the spear will be slowed.
Wrap your spear in ribbons and hurl it with force. Upon impact, the ribbons bind nearby enemies. Angela can leap to the spear’s location, damaging surrounding enemies and creating a Divine Judgement Zone.
Team-up ability Celestial Command • Passive team up with Thor.

Angela shares fragments of her Ichors with Thor, empowering him to hurl a Thunder Spear that restores Thorforce for each enemy struck. Afterwards, Thor can leap to the spear’s explosion point, dealing a second wave of damage to all enemies within range.

Angela has impacted the flying meta in Marvel Rivals, as her abilities make it easy for her to zone in on and take out flying heroes. She is the first Vanguard to have such a significant impact on flyers – like Human Torch and Iron Man – as only a few Vanguards have abilities that can target flyers, and even then, they struggle to take down flyers completely. Angela can engage flyers directly in the skies and has various ways to deal with them. She can use her Assassin’s Charge to knock flyers away from her teammates, or she can try to ground them, switch to a grounded position and use her axes to take them out. These are just a few of the many ways that Angela can easily eliminate flyers. 

Angela’s role as a flying Vanguard has also had an impact, as she is the first of her kind. She isn’t all about defence like Doctor Strange or Captain America, nor is she an upfront attacker like The Hulk or The Thing. Instead, Angela combines crowd control and disruption with mobility, allowing her to cause chaos and pick off enemies in the mayhem. This makes her a unique tank who can manoeuvre the battlefield in different ways than the other Vanguards in the game. 

Angela is a new kind of tank in Marvel Rivals, and her introduction could lead to her being the first of many disruptive mobile tanks. At the time of writing – mid-September 2025 – Angela has not long been part of Marvel Rivals. Because of this, it’s a little too soon to tell just how significant her impact has been. That being said, her versatile skills and role as a flying Vanguard are sure to switch up the way that matches play out.
