The FISSURE Playground 2 playoffs are now underway, and the quarter-finals featured shocks aplenty as Liquid continued its surprise run and G2 Esports was eliminated by The MongolZ.

The MongolZ Send G2 Packing, Twistzz and Liquid March On

The day began with BLAST Open London champions G2 vs The MongolZ, a game that lived up to pre-match expectations as the EWC and BLAST winners went head-to-head.

The MongolZ edged out Mirage with a 13-11 scoreline thanks to a mammoth performance from Azbayar “Senzu” Munkhbold, who notched 25 frags. G2 came back strongly on Dust2, winning the second map 13-7.

The MongolZ clinched the decider to take the series 2-1, winning Ancient 13-9 with AWPer Usukhbayar “910” Banzragch popping off.

Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken is taking part in his final event with Liquid, who will face The MongolZ in the semi-finals after beating Turkish team Aurora in a clean 2-0 series. Twistzz starred in the series as he went 39-23 in 13-9 and 13-8 wins on Mirage and Inferno respectively.

Aurora’s wait for a major trophy continues, while the result guarantees Liquid’s spot at the StarLadder Budapest Major after previously being out of the VRS race.

FURIA and Falcons Continue Strong Form at FISSURE

Astralis first event since the return of Emil “Magisk” Reif ended abruptly after an in-form FURIA brushed the Danish outfit aside with a 13-9 win on train and a double overtime victory on Nuke.

The final quarter-final saw Falcons absolutely dominate paiN, with paiN recording just 10 rounds in the 2-0 win for the Saudi organisation.

Falcons’ rifle duo played starring roles, with both Nikola “NiKo” Kovac and Maxim “kyousuke” Lukin recording 35 kills or more as the Brazilian team was demolished.

paiN crumbled to a 13-4 defeat on Inferno, followed by further misery on Ancient, losing 13-6. FURIA will now face a stern test if it’s to progress past a resurgent Falcons squad.
