A Call of Duty Black Ops 6 update has reset the loadouts used in the first-person shooter title’s Ranked Play playlist.
Treyarch says the update was an intentional decision to “maintain competitive integrity” among players participating in matches.
Released on September 16th, 2025, the update addressed an issue where players could access unintended loadouts that featured restricted items, giving them an unfair advantage during matches.
As a result of the reset, Ranked Play players must rebuild their loadouts using the correct list of unrestricted items determined by the Call of Duty League’s competitive settings.
Although the Call of Duty esports is in its off-season, Activision and Treyarch continue to address various issues impacting players loading into Black Ops 6 matches. Earlier this month, the publisher revealed over 55,000 cheaters were caught by its anti-cheat measures as it continues to combat hackers across multiplayer and Call of Duty: Warzone.
What Next For Black Ops 6?
Whilst attention is turning towards the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, fans are still anticipating the release of the Black Ops 6 Season 6 update.
The final post-launch season for the title is expected to follow the formula of previous seasons, introducing a range of new weaponry and maps. To adhere to the Call of Duty League’s rules, any new weaponry and maps are unlikely to feature in the final season of Ranked Play.
Before Season 6 begins, Activision will host the COD: NEXT event on September 30th to showcase Black Ops 7 multiplayer and upcoming changes to Warzone.
In esports, fans are now eagerly awaiting the Call of Duty League 2026 season. Several franchises have already made roster changes in a bid to dethrone OpTic Texas from the top of the esport after it won the CDL Championship 2025. Moreover, on October 1st, the World Series of Warzone Global Finals rounds off the battle royale title’s esports season.
