The International 2025 event in Hamburg, Germany, has become the third most popular Dota 2 event in the tournament’s history, according to data analytics platform Esports Charts.
Running from September 4th to 14th, the 14th annual edition of the flagship event saw the top 16 teams go head-to-head for the lion’s share of a prize pool worth over $2.7m (~£1.98m).
The International 2025 Boasts Strong Viewership
As outlined by Esports Charts, The International 2025 reached a peak viewership of 1,784,879 viewers during the Grand Final between Xtreme Gaming and this year’s champions, Team Falcons. Furthermore, it boasted an average viewership of 581,031 with over 63m hours watched across more than 108 hours of airtime.
The majority of views came from the streaming platform Twitch, which attracted a peak viewership of over 1.2m. In addition, the most popular stream was Russian at 908,766 peak viewers, with Aleksandr ‘Nix‘ Levin hosting the most popular stream with 396,265 peak viewership.
The competition in Germany has also become the most popular event of 2025 in terms of all-time peak viewership, surpassing the Dota 2 tournament in the Esports World Cup (429,568) and DreamLeague Season 25 (416,220).
2025 Ranks Third Highest in The International’s History
The 2025 figures exceed the results from last year. The International 2024 tournament attracted a peak viewership of 1,513,877 during the Grand Finals match between Team Liquid and Gaimin Gladiators. The event was also beaten in average views, with 466,427 users, and attracted over 54m hours watched despite having a longer airtime of 117 hours.
Throughout the history of The International, 2025 ranks as the third most popular Dota 2 event in peak viewership, beating earlier editions such as 2022. 2019 comes second with 1,965,328 users, and The International 10 from 2021 remains the most popular with a peak viewership of 2,741,514.
The International has been confirmed by Valve’s President, Gabe Newell, to return for 2026 in Shanghai, China. Only time will tell whether it can attract even higher viewer counts or even break its record.
