The PUBG Mobile Super League (PMSL) Central & South Asia (CSA) Fall has been moved online due to the ongoing Gen Z protests in Nepal.

Originally scheduled to start on September 18th in Kathmandu, this edition was supposed to mark the second time the country hosted the PMSL.

“After careful evaluation and considering recent developments in the region, we regret to inform you that the Fall 2025 tournament will be conducted online instead of the planned offline format,” the PUBG Mobile Esports South Asia Instagram account posted.

“This difficult decision has been made to ensure the safety and well-being of all players and staff, keeping our priorities focused on delivering the best possible tournament experience.”

The protests in Nepal have been labelled the ‘Gen Z protests’ by major news outlets, with young Nepalis taking to the streets against corruption, nepotism and the since repealed ban on major social media platforms.

The death toll since the protests began on September 8th has climbed to 51, according to Reuters, with hundreds more injured.

With Nepal’s prime minister K.P. Sharma Oli and several government ministers resigning on September 9th, the situation in the country is slowly returning to normalcy as negotiations continue between the protestors, the army chief, and the President of Nepal regarding the appointment of an interim Prime Minister.

The PMSL CSA Fall 2025 features a prize pool of $200,000, with the top three teams qualifying for the PUBG Mobile Global Championship (PMGC) 2025.

Twenty teams will compete in the tournament, with the Group Stage scheduled from September 18th to 24th.

From there, the top 16 teams will advance to the Grand Finals from September 26th to 28th.

With the tournament now moving online, the main concern for teams will be ping issues, given that they will have to compete remotely.

In its statement, PUBG Mobile Esports said that it remains committed to providing a ‘fair, competitive and seamless tournament experience even in the online format.’

The PMGC 2025 will be held in Thailand across November and December as part of PUBG United.
