Duet Night Abyss is due out later this year after several years in development, and alongside a release date, developer Hero Games announced a massive change to the way the business model of the upcoming free-to-play release works.
Duet Night Abyss Release Date
Late last month, Hero Games revealed that a global release for the game is currently scheduled for October 28, after holding two closed beta tests this year – one in February and one in June.
The game was initially announced in 2023 and received over one million pre-registrations prior to launch across all platforms.
Duet Night Abyss Gacha Changes
Late last month, alongside the reveal of the release date for the game, it was also confirmed that Hero Games has removed the character and weapon gacha elements of the game, instead focusing its monetization efforts on cosmetics. This comes after a series of closed beta tests that were intended to provide feedback on what exactly people want from the title.
Speaking on the change with Automaton, producer Deca Bear stated that the reason for changing the Gacha system was due to “fundamental dissatisfaction.”
“After analyzing player data, community feedback, and in-game survey results from the last beta, we realized that the complaints were fairly consistent. We debated the issue many times internally, and concluded that no matter how much we optimzied the gacha and stamina systems, it wouldn’t be enough to address the fundamental dissatisfaction players felt.”
